As with most of their lyrics, and song construction, Aenima is layered with meaning and oozing paradox. Layered meanings address topics such as superficial, egoic existence; armegeddon (& fear mongering); societal/moral breakdown, consumerism, alcehmy & transformation. The lyrical musings are somewhat more overt than MJK tends to be but he def. has the ability to move from subtelty to a sledgehammer. I f you have an understanding of 2012, the period of time we're in now (pertaining to both the world that's presented to us through mainstream instutions as well as the increase in consciousness that is forecasted by the Mayan Calendar) then the idea of "the apocolypse" (which does not mean "destruction" it means "revealing" and the fear of destruction is whats been cultivated in humanity for millinea in order to support limited belief systems like that of egoic, materialistic living, religious dogmas, etc... as referenced in the lyrics) doesn't seem so scary after all... which is why he asks you not to call him a pessimist and to show that you can read between the lines. |

Souls born with hateful intent The deceitful spawn, descendants of lies By the poisoned nails of history stung IMO, the key lines indicating the subject matter are those who are born into power, the Aristocracy, a worldwide phenomenom, in many cases linked by ancient bloodlines, in all cases sharing an idealogical lifestyle that descends into moral/ethical (and quite often, physical) debauchery as evidenced by the institutions they've set up & controlled, the wars, genocide & environmental destruction they've promulgated and the abject selfishness with which they conduct their lives. |
