This song has a pretty simple meaning in my opinion. It doesn't need to be over-analyzed. He wants his girlfriend to hate him, because he feels he is a horrible person who makes mistakes constantly and will only continue to hate her, but she continues to love him unconditionally. It's that simple, I think. |

I think that this song is asking a loved one to set you free. The person who the song is meant to be talking as obviously feels he is not good enough for his loved one and wants them to let him go but they won't. At least, it's how I've interpreted it. |
