| Stream of Passion – When You Hurt Me the Most Lyrics | 15 years ago |

First thing that I thought of, Something that started as consensual S&M, "the stage was all set at my request; you took the role, you played it well," "Pain is sweeter coming from your hand, I love you when you hurt me the most." "begged for more, you gave no less, surrendering fully to the game." Yet ended up turning abusive, "The air was cold the night I fled, your eyes were more than I could take; I ran so fast, I ran like hell, and still wasn't able to escape..." "No pain or love left for your slave; my heart is torn yet you smile the same. I'll break the vow, I'll tell myself the words that free me from you." "the pain was more than I could take." |

I actually see it as someone insecure with their sexuality, and having a homophobic parent, or another person who's opinion they do care about. "I have been a world apart, stuck in between time. Head into the ground, I'm found falling through fault lines." - A world apart, feeling distant from these people, which I believe to be family members, in particular a parent. Falling through fault lines, a play on the fact that the parent believes it to be a "fault" to be gay. Also, the fact that actual fault lines result in earthquakes; perhaps a metaphor for arguments, etc. According to the bible, earth quakes are also an expression of God's anger; perhaps the fact that the parent saying that this is "going against God". "I feel see through. Can you see through me?" - In their insecurity, they feel like it's something everyone must be seeing and judging them on. "Could I change one thing? Could I change your mind?" - Could they change the parent's opinion? Could they just make the parent accept, or at the very least tolerate, that one tiny thing? "Shall we burn it just like the last time?" - To me, the burning is a reference to "burning the witch". Crucifixion, whatever you want to call it. People condemning what they don't understand. "I can't change a thing, can't explain why I never felt it, not even the first time." - This is who they are. They can't change it, they can't explain it. They just have never "felt it" with the opposite sex. "Raise a glass and toast the flame just like the old days. Swallow but be careful, don't drown the new ways you could say, "Would you change this time?"" - Toast the flame, again with the "burn the witch" reference. "Just like the old days" when there truly would be flames for anything abnormal. The parent is condoning persecution, but at the same time suspects or knows it of their child. "Don't drown the new ways you could say 'Would you change'" I view that to be the parent is condemning homosexuality as much as they can, but they're being careful to always leave room to say "please change" to their child. "I'll begin to change my mind when you can explain why I feel see through." - They can't change it, any more than the parent can explain it. Again, asking them to accept, or at least tolerate it. Of course, I could be completely off... But, that's what the song means to me. |

I have a theory, I have no idea how accurate it is. Horses are considered symbols of power. The horse being power fits with "A force of nature filled with strength". I think that the "sugar horse, a friend in need" refers to antidepressants appearing to give the patient strength, but are really feeding off of them in ways, especially by clouding their mind (Her mind in a glaze, from the medicine gloom). It could also be illegal drugs that someone is "self medicating" with to get through their days, sugar being cocaine, and horse being power, which would make sense if the "sugar horse, a friend in need" were the part of her craving it. Both would fit, but I could be completely off. Personally, I think the first definition is more likely. |

Can't believe no one's commented on any of their songs. :O There's the obvious "story", but I also see it as a willingness to do anything to protect someone, no matter the cost to yourself. |

I see it as both suicide and a terminal disease. They have a disease that is going to slowly kill them, and a lot of the time they're wondering why they don't just kill themselves and get it over with, since they're going to die anyway. But, since they're dying, they feel like they, more than anyone, should realise how precious time really is. And when they feel like giving up, there's one person who they feel like they should be staying to spend as much of that precious time with as they can. |
