This song demonstrates more than anything to me the horrors of facing one's self, constantly, like the ballerinas in the jewelry boxes that every little girl has would have to do, should they be alive... It's almost like she's comparing herself to this little figure, imagining that she is trapped in front of a mirror because of how many people make her feel as though she must constantly observe herself. It's a terrible feeling, and I think that a lot of girls can relate to it. "..there's a button right beside me if I happen to want a wall behind me, if only the ballerina had one, too," is such an interesting spin on what most girls would envision as perfect, the perfect little world that the ballerina spins in, constantly looking at herself though she may "see when you get bitter." Not only that, but the chorus itself demonstrates running away from these people that make us feel, as it seems, trapped in our own little box. Every now and then, we all have the urge to get out and "grow tall," as she puts it. As in the "but know, they'll chase you if you play they're little game..." we feel the anxiety and fear that she instills by the game and being chased by whatever it is that people make you feel as though you need to participate in, whatever that may be. I don't know why, but this is my favorite song of hers simply because it puts the little ballerina in a jewelry box in a totally different perspective, one that I and probably many other women can relate to. So beautifully written! She's seriously a deep thinker. :) |

I just wanted to say that I related to this song on a very general level where, as many people have probably done, I had been overlooked for someone else and felt wrong because I felt that I had loved someone first, as Regina constantly reiterates throughout this song. She seems to be reminiscing, which I'm very familiar with. I don't think that I can quite theorize the Biblical reference and all, but I do believe that it has something to do with the fact that this Samson character, whoever that may be, opened up to her first, and whoever he has chosen thus far is not nearly as close to his new distraction as he had once been to her... It's sort of bittersweet, in my opinion. |

I've only felt this way about someone once, and every time I hear this song, it reminds me of him. I cannot listen to this song without crying and yearning for what I once had. It's about being completely crazy about someone, about being able to think of nothing else... and it's loving everything about them and seeing, exactly, the beauty of who they are. Such a good song, I highly recommend it. I wasn't even a fan of him until I heard it. |

This is one of the most hopeful songs that I know, one of the few that I can actually relate to, and every time I hear it, it simply puts me in the best of moods. It's one of those songs that inexplicably say, "Hey, if you really want to love me, keep your promises." Especially in the lyric "You're so hypnotic on my heart," you can most certainly relate to the way that that one person makes you feel when they make a promise that you want to believe that they'll keep. This song's about reminding them to keep it! It's pretty simple. (: |

"Yes'n I try to ignore
All this blood on the floor
It's just this heart on my sleeve that's a bleeding"
It's the perfect unrequited lyric. SO many people can relate to this, and I won't even pretend that I'm not one of them. This song sends me back every time. It's so thought provoking, makes you wonder about what could have been. |

It's that surest of sure feelings that burns within you, no matter how much it hurts to realize it, that you and this certain someone were just meant to be together, despite the obstacles that the two of you may face. Though lovers are constantly reminded that they may in fact just be fools in love, there is always that gut feeling that we all get in the beginning that we are all right, and in any relationship it is what we all must hold onto (: The fact that this song was chosen for one of my all-time favorite movies, Tristan + Isolde, just reiterates all that I've just said... Such a sad & heartbreaking story that beats to the very core of love. It's undeniable. Who hasn't felt this way once or twice in their lives? Keep that feeling no matter what. Your gut instinct, your first thought, is always the right one. Don't let anyone tell you any differently. |

I can totally relate to this song. It's when you're stuck in the friend zone, when you watch the person that you love go through countless relationships that are bad, when you absolutely know deep down in your heart that you could do so much better for them... But are only his/her friend. It's exactly what any friend would want to tell that person, had they ever taken the time to listen. If a guy were to blatantly sing this to me, FOR me, especially, I wouldn't have any second thoughts, I'd most certainly take his word for it. :) |

| James Morrison – If You Don't Wanna Love Me Lyrics

This song gets me in a way that reminds me of everything that I've never gotten that I was absolutely sure would make me the happiest person alive; it's about wooing that person that you know you could have had, that you could have made happy, had they only given you the time of day. It's about that reluctant love, the one you don't want to feel for someone, the kind that hurts you, but at the same time, you know you cannot stop. It's the fact that that person only sees what's wrong with you, and not all of the things that you think that you could change for them, had they only given you the chance. "You can't push me too far, there's no space in my heart where I don't wanna love you," is the reluctance to ever let go "If there's nothing to lose, then what is this feeling that keeps on bringing me back to you?" and this is the feeling that everyone has when they simply cannot get over a past love that they know will never love them back. It all ties in beautifully. My favorite James Morrison song. It's so relative. (: |

| Regina Spektor – Somedays Lyrics

This song is about getting what you need, but not what you want. You suddenly feel that your days aren't even your own because you feel as if you're doing things for other people more than you're doing for yourself. Not only that, but the whole marriage thing seems to relate to that also. When he asks to marry his daughter that he's in love with, it obviously didn't end so well, he was obviously denied. It's about not getting what you want, or what you thought you may have wanted that didn't turn out to be what you wanted at all...
But that's just my own interpretation. These are all pretty interesting. |

As many people probably would agree, I think I can completely relate to this song. It's about going someplace that you used to know and expecting to see that special person that you may or may not have had feelings for... That you've lost contact with. That one person that we would have liked to spend more time with, that we would have liked to know better than we did, when we now see that that chance is lost and gone forever, as in "I wish I could see your face below, I wish I could hear you whispering low, But you don't live downtown no more, and everything must come and go..." It's crazy to me because, being a constant victim of nostalgia, I can almost feel the regret or loss of losing contact with people that were once special to us. "Like ancient bruises, I am awake to feel the ache," I know that feeling all too well. She's got such a way with words, I wonder how people cannot get 8779645967468 interpretations out of her songs. This one just really hit home with me. |
