Im not that sure about the song meaning but in my opinion it seems that its about getting out there and doing something that your really want to do in life, no matter what that decision may bring you. The chorus especially seems to be saying it, with the lines : seven seas swimming them so well glad to see my face among them kissing the tortoise shell it seems to me when you listen to the verse's and then the chorus he seems like he saying that no matter what has happened he's glad he out there doing what he wants and that he's happy with his life for making that decision |

I agree with all the other comments on this song,though i think its more of a generic song meaning, i.e it can be applied to anything! relationships, work, family, etc etc really good song to vent some anger to!! awesome bass line as well, one of hookies best |

i Think the song is written from a jilter lover's persepctive. Basically, it seems that the person who this song is directed at wronged the narrator in some way and now the protagonist is looking down at the person who they once loved and admired i must admit i remember when i split up with my ex this song brought me thru it, coz she was basically the lipgloss girl, loved herself, thought she was great , could get anyone, would use anybody, etc etc. this song just reminded me that things do change and that if she carried on the way she was going then she'd end up like the sad cow in this song |

the song is self explanatory really!! must say however that it is a really relaxing song and i do genuinely feel sorry her in this song! beautiful melody and structure, and coming from someone who is mainly a indie - rock fan i didnt think i would even like this band but ive been converted! |

This songs is excellent cant beleive no-one hasnt commented yet!! anyways listening to song and looking at the lyrics it seems to me that its a song about 2 things: wanting to escape your surroundings and how much 1 person can have a effect on your life. Looking at the first verse i thinks its self explanatory in its message of escaping the sitaution, moving away starting afresh. Also, maybe i think that what the songs is trying to convey that maybe this peron who has laid a shadow is also the reason why they want to escape?? |

| Myself i thinks sounds like a lament for a child from a parents perspective, sorta like their remembering how their child used to be when they was young. For example the line ' How can you grow old you were my Triumph? ' makes me think that this is what the parent is thinking, along the lines of thinking that when their child was young it was the parents triumph, shining glory , etc etc. And now that they have grown older and dont depend on them anymore the parent longs for their child to revert back to their childhood. | |

| I agree with the above comments to be honest, but listening to the song itself i have to say he sounds kinda rejected to the idea, sorta like he's resigned to the fact that regardless of how crappy people get treated you have to just roll with the punches, and maybe he's questioning why life has to be this way? thats my take on it anyways, great tune by the way!! | |
