To me, it's saying that she loves a person but being in a relationship will only result in her pulling down the other person she loves, harming them. Here's my interpretation of what the song means. "Always leave before the lights go on. Before the party ends, before we hit the dawn. Always leave before tomorrow comes. All the greatest loves are the unfinished ones." -I think this paragraph explains the actions of the narrator and what she does when in social situations, especially on dates. She thinks that relationships that hang by a thread are perfect for her when in reality they are not. "Goodnight, goodbye. By the time you turn around, I'll be gone. I'll be gone." This obviously describes what she does..she's basically saying that goodbye and you'll never see me again after I leave (I'll be gone) "You're water color, you will wash away. The spark will only fade the longer that it stays. I've been looking for your silver lining. It's getting me nowhere. It's a waste of time." She's saying that everybody she meets or gets in a relationship is a watercolor that will rub away. People will always disappear, and despite her looking for something that ensures a lasting relationship, she doesn't find it and believes it's just a waste of time (backing up her reasons for disappearing) "Don't send the searchlights. You'll only waste your time, looking for what is gone. What's gone." This says that the narrator is telling the other person not to send searchlights (or go look for her) because she's already gone and there's no point. A really beautiful song. I love the hush sound and Gold Motel :) Greta is awesome on her own, as much as I miss the old days...*sigh* |

I'm a huge Pierces fan :)... I think the meaning is pretty obvious. The thunder is basically the narrator realizing that "Death will inevitably come" and soon she will be marched on by force to her grave. She basically tries to "run away" from the fact (by trying to forget it, maybe), but after a lot of thinking, she realizes that "we are all helpless to the song" and this is her final kiss, until she realizes that it's not tragic because it happens to everybody :) I think death is magic myself. I wonder what's on the otherside if there even IS an otherside. There needs to be more people who interpret these awesome songs! |

This is my favorite song from The Submarines, I'm upset to see how it has so little comments. Anyways, I've dug down this a little bit, and I have a few meanings that I can see already. The narrator, the lead singer Blake, is singing to somebody who has awful paranoia and unnecessary fears. 1) "Something's wrong when you regret, things that haven't happened yet" can be interpreted as "There's something wrong when you are worrying about things that haven't happened yet", which means that the person is afraid of the future or what is yet to come. 2) "You couldn't sleep for the awful fright that kept you up in bed last night" can be looked at like "You couldn't sleep last night for the fear that lingers and keeps you awake." The person couldn't go to sleep since their fears are taking over them. 3) "They vanish with the sunrise spark" is "The curious that shape shift in the dark vanish when the sunrise sparks", the "curious" (the fear) that shape shift (changes and adapts to the person) will vanish when the light comes up, i.e., at sunrise. 4) FINALLY, then the chorus states that the person should "rise and shine", because "now is the time to be alive, to stay awake with me a while, and smile". Now is the time to be happy, to rise and shine, to live free and alive, to let go of all these fears and regrets that are just paranoia. I hope I'm correct :D |

" I just wanted to add that suicidal tendencies are a little prominent in the song...the person is wondering about what happens when she (in my mind, the 2nd person is a "she") dies, will people love her the same, will they talk about her more. Then she reassures herself that if they don't, it's okay. |

He doesn't want to let her go, even though she already said that she can't be with him anymore. Alternatively, I think that she can't even remember who Alejandro was, with all the name changes in the song. Lady Gaga is awesome. |

I think the whole "break me open" thing means how someones trying to get something out of her, like a secret (maybe she cheated on her boyfriend) and "wont be haunted by dreams i deffered" means how she wont be afraid of doing whatev......"breaking the sky" means how she should break up with her boyfriend, but they "kisses goodbye" each time she gets there because she cant bring herself to do it. :). "Fear will hold you back if you believe in that" means how fear is pulling her back from breaking up with the guy, but since a side of her doesnt really want to "fear is pulling her back" since another side of her is believing that she shouldnt break up with the guy, i think. or it could mean doing something by her own self, with independance, but being too afraid to do it :) (ie bunjee-jumping off a building?) |
