No, I think theres much more in the song that suggests faith. 'Roll away your stone' for instance. Sort of like, how Jesus emerged from the tomb and revealed himself, so the writer does. He is attempting to reveal himself to whoever the audience is. And the talk of souls, the way that Darkness is all around him and he's tried to fill himself with material stuff. I dunno, talks to me of a struggle with Christianity. 'Stars hide your fires, These here are my desires And I won't give them up to you this time around' This bit, I think, gives the impression that he's realised that in order to have faith there are some things that he will have to give up. Like the macbeth quote above, his dark desires are going to been revealed by the light, and he wants to hold onto them. |

"You told me that I would find a hole Within the fragile substance of my soul And I have filled this void with things unreal And all the while my character it steals" Someones tried to give him advice about why he might be feeling rubbish and has suggested he is a bit empty and should consider finding faith. Makes me think he's trying to fill a 'gap' with things like religion? It carries on with the bit about grace, like he's trying to have faith but can't quite manage it or understand it. Finally giving up and saying that he wont give up his soul to anyone. Dunno if Im completely wrong, just my impression :) |

As much as I love the books I really dont think the song is written about Edward and Bellas relationship? It just doesnt make sense for R.P to write about it? Plus I dont really think the first two lines would make sense. I love this song though, he has a completely unexpected voice, immense :) |
