about all this 'fake indie' stuff indie isn't really a genre, it was originally for bands that prefer to be more well-known than making more money ('independent') so a band can't really be 'fake' indie, it's either indie or it's not... to say that this song is about other bands doesn't really sound right to me, 'you would never exist without us' sounds a bit much, it's not like The Cribs are the only band who are able to influence others :s |

what an amazing song love from a father figure is a significant thing a child needs I've never had a dad in the first place, so I can't wholly relate to the song, but the cruel repetiton of HE'S GONE, HE'S GONE, just emphasises the feeling of abandonment i've never admitted it but when i see happy families i get really jealous and feel lonely |

I read somewhere that it's about religion? about people finding God (flightless bird) I really have no idea what it's about, but I love it. When I heard it on Twilight, I had no idea that it was Iron & Wine. Thought it was a woman singing to be honest. This and 'Fever Dream' are my absolute favourites |
