| Avantasia – Another Angel Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think its about hope, and good things coming from dropping religion. I am the master of the game that made a fool of you I'm watching from the highest tower You got the aura to enchant them - and a symphony And I have got the power You better taste - they call it life: my special area I'm breeding winners over there (yeah) Ain't it a sin to turn your back On what you re given It's time to take your share Taste life, live it. Don't be bound by silly made-up laws. Also it means from the third line, that if God had made something for you, why not take it? God left me for dead I've been turning my head Away from the living the time has come To gamble for gain To tear down the gate And see what's inside He's been paying more attention to religion than real things. We rock the ball! Been smashed to the ground Arose from devotion To take a look and see what is inside Sight of the crown: Another angel down (oooh) "Been smashed to the ground" is essentially "Coming down-to-Earth. Hard." He then, since coming down to Earth, arose from religion (gave it up, is better without it) and looked at what it really was. (Lies that keep you from your full potential enjoyment of life). There's no tomorrow I don't remember yesterday I'm just living for tonight And all the love I'm not gonna waste No more: I won't, spill what's divine! Tomorrow and Yesterday represent "Other lives" ex. " I was a pirate in my past life, and I hope I can be a (something) in my next one!" They left you for dead Turning your head Away form the living From flesh and blood You've got the draw and desire to claw For fortune and fame This sums up most of the points made in the song. Religion stopping you from seeing reality, and how it stops you from, your full potential. "Another Angel Down" means that another person has dropped religion. (Angel representing a religious person). |

| Edguy – Ministry of Saints Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
When the lights go down you feel it come alive Driven by the dread of love that never passes by When the night unfolds a veil across the day Waiting for the flood to come to wash the stains away The only important line here is the fourth. The stains are irreligion or corruption. Yahweh made the flood to cleanse corruption, and will do so again when the corruption is complete. Look at the clouded sky Poisoned rain, angels cry Cracks show in the seal Angels cry poison rain because they are corrupted. Rain used to be seen as Angel's tears, so poison rain would be corrupted angels tears (as poinson rain is corrupted rain in a sense) Tonight a thousand angels fall Heaven's up against the wall Changes holding sway We can make you anyone By the morning we'll be gone The ministry of saints "By the morning we'll be gone" means that since "Heaven's up against the Wall" the Ministry of Saints will be gone by the morning. They represent the uncorrupted portion of the religious. And I can't find any more meaning in the rest. |

| Angra – Angels and Demons Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is about the difference between emotions and real, tangible things, and what counts as real, tangible things. Tangible things represent the truth, while non-tangible things would count as lies. This can be found here: "Face the Truth: God is not love! Feel as fluid as life, Love is a rainbow As much as it seems to be real It's all in your mind Sooner or later I'm gonna convince that The truth is a lie There's no Judge when we die Only dust" Love is not a tangible thing, "Its all in your mind" so it is real in our minds but it has no physical representation. God is not love, so God can still be real ("Face the truth: God's not love") but this song takes no stance on that. The second part becomes a little clearer after you put a colon (":") after the second line (So it reads "Sooner or later I'm gonna convince that The truth is a lie:" So he is going to tell people (or "convince" them) that there IS a judge when you die (there is an afterlife) because, remember, he is supposed to be a Crusader (this is a concept/storytelling album) but he is of the opinion that there is not a judge when you die. "he" is the main character of the story, not Edu Falaschi. The rest of the song is about people telling lies, and how hard it is to take stances on anything using help from other people because people lie and are devoted to their causes. |

| Edguy – The Headless Game Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Its about religion, and how Edguy feels persecuted by it. because: (...In their eyes we are insane! But aren't daydreamers only the escapists of a soulless view of life?...) Fly! Riding away... Rising today... No we don't play your headless game! We are alive, don't say goodbye. Fly! Riding away... Rising today... No we don't play your headless game! We are alive, don't say goodbye. The "Headless Game" is religion, probably a reference to how its beliefs are false and that it results in death quite often (hence "headless") Cast out from Eden... You don't like what we are in your eyes. We're leading the treason on the race you run, the way of your life. The 2nd line in this part is about how many (but not all of course) religious people think people who disagree with them are immoral agents of Satan. |

mvmj --Its pretty good if you're into metal. But just a warning, when you listen to it, there is NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VOLUME. Do NOT turn it up. This is very important. Its silent for a few seconds and then explodes. |

| Nightwish – Planet Hell Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song makes use of double meanings to bash religion and make a point at the same time. Planet Hell is of course Earth. I'll just dissect the meaning: Denying the lying A million children fighting For lives in strife For hope beyond the horizon These are real children, fighting for their lives. The 3rd line says "lives in strife" which means that even if they do survive, they're lives will be "in strife." A dead world A dark path Not even crossroads to choose from All the bloodred Carpets before me Behold this fair creation of God! This is about how in many cases for people, they do not have a choice for their lives in poverty or war etc.,etc. The most important line is "Behold this fair creation of God!" Which is used for irony. People claim that God made this world fair for us and that He created and watches over it, which is not true because of the suffering the God supposedly allows to take place. My only wish to leave behind All the days of the Earth This everyday hell of my kingdom come self-explanatory The 1st rock thrown again Welcome to hell, little Saint Mother Gaia in slaughter Welcome to paradise, Soldier "Mother Gaia in slaughter" is not, as some have claimed, about how we must accept Gaia. It is in fact a reference to Earth, or "Mother Gaia" and how people are dieing because of natural disasters. My 1st cry neverending All life is to fear for life You fool, you wanderer You challenged the gods and lost Not much meaning here, but references to religion and the problems that supposedly happened as a result of losing to Gods when you challenged them. Save yourself a penny for the ferryman Save yourself and let them suffer In hope In love This world ain't ready for The Ark Mankind works in mysterious ways This part is about the "save yourself/pull yourself by your own bootstraps (penny)" school of thought. It is a reference to ancient mythology, but it has a dual meaning. "This world ain't ready for the Ark" Is actually a "happy" in a sense line. The world still has moral people, so imaginary sky-man doesn't need to kill us all except the attendees of Bob Jones University yet. "Mankind works in mysterious ways" Is just an insult to mankind--a well deserved one at that--on how we allow this to happen while some of us live in extreme wealth (See "Cribs") and leave others behind for our own purposes so often. |
