In general this is about two lovers. I think the song is directed towards the raw feeling you get when falling in love-- as well being utterly terrified to fall in love: "Stand beside it, we can't hide the way it makes us glow It's no good unless it grows, feel this burning, love of mine" The infuation begins to turn to love. It gets better as the love develops. It develops to the point where the love is literally a burning emotion. "Deep inside the ever-spinning, tell me does it feel It's no good unless it's real-- " Love drives you crazy (When I like someone my head literally spins with thoughts and over analyzing situations regarding them). What's the point of suffering through that if it's real? " hill sides burning Wild-eyed turning til we're running from it"" When love for one and another developes to this intensity then committments and other life changing things start to manifest i.e these hills are on fire. This can be scary as lots of people are terrified of committment. "You say swimming in the lake we'll come across a snake" I find that water is often associated with emotion. The. snake metaphor, to me, symbollises deception. . So while the couple is immersing themselves into each other there comes the insecurity of whether it is really love or not "It is real and then it's fake, feel its heartbeat" A lie will seem like the truth at first until it is proven to be a lie. The second part to me is a very interesting way of saying "See through the bullshit." The way it's written fits nicely with all the imagery and metaphors. "Feel what you heat, far so fast it feels too late" So from the verses above it's established that anything on fire/burning is a metaphor for emotion, specifally love so it's saying get in touch with your feelings. Often you fall in love so fast that you don't realize it until it's to late. So if they try to back off from their relationship now then it's going to hurt. So it's about love including relationships/comittments/insecurities, in my opionion! |

Now going with the metaphor, the film which blinds our soul is created from the absence of God. |

Vagabond Ballroom is a another saying of he has no where to go or stay. Everywhere he tries to settle- the corruption and other bad stuff just drive him crazy hence everywhere the song says don't go crazy!\ Hence "And windows that look out of all the world's raging." Er really tired right now but the part with Cobras growing under the glass floors could mean that no one can survive a life of drifting. Love the guitar in this song too :] |

This song is pretty rad! I think it's pretty interesting and cool that the Johnny's lyrics have switched from more dark and depressing themes to more hopeful ones. Like here: This song is about hoping for a better future and instead of dreaming about it- join the revolution. "Oh Children! Take back the rad world." Children because they are the new generation that is untainted by the world today which many people "pray for death or money to free us from this life" |

Crimes and Young Machete have this recurring theme of political corruption so this is where the corrupt man finally is on the verge of death "Giant swan" = God or like death coming "Polaroids" = memories and events that happened which is why their humiliating the wine's drunk and the wild cabaret has sung it's last voice= he can no longer blame alcohol for his deeds theater = near death experience "sing your voice wont stop blooming" = to me it was nice/mocking way of saying cry for mercy The part with the swan becoming pixelated with mushroom clouds goes back to the Polaroids on how this swan is a reflection of his life. This is where I made the connection on this man being a corrupt politician because now the swan is replying all the events he has caused or influenced. Heart = Soul which is kinda given and makes me believe this more because "Your skin is shaved and your hair is shitty" to me is another way of saying how physical/material things don't matter once your dead. Vulgar skeleton is his penis haha if that wasn't obvious! and after all these things happen the politician can't really redeem himself due to his life so all he can do is "Take another sip of Captain Morgan's Rum" Then Snaps back to reality and probably this politician has hit rock bottom which is why he's in a motel room screwing hookers and doing cocaine which leads to his downfall. This is what I interpreted knowing that Johnny is incredibly metaphorical and The blood brothers often write about social/political problems. Wine is also used in Devastator when the politician is ordering the killings. |

Such a catchy song; this is my favorite on the album. It's also pretty cool that there's a rhyme scheme; reminds me of a sonnet. Pretty much it's about a frail relationship; the first few lines is the argument then the rest just is him being cynical |
