holy shit that is perfect. if this is truly how Dylan felt, i can most definitely relate. i don't want to come across as a misogynist, but i definitely get the little girl vibrations from some women. |

"I found a face that fits tight" like he's been in a horrible accident and he's aged prematurely or he's trying to find out who he is and he's found an outward appearance that he's somewhat happy with. I've felt the same, looking into the mirror. Wondering whether or not this is my face and what it means. Very strange; I love it. |

| Animal Collective – Loch Raven Lyrics

I think he's trying to tell someone that he can make her happy and all she has to do is come with him. Come into his life. Then he feels possessive of her and I think he's a little critical of himself in calling him a bear who will chase her and eventually bring her back to his den. He'll be charming and take her home with him and be loving and then he'll never let her go.
It's either that or:
He's telling her that he'll love her forever and that he'll always be there to get her back and that she can be safe in his den. This is how I interpret it. |

| Animal Collective – Mouth Wooed Her Lyrics

This song is confusing. At first, I thought it was just a love song about someone who has sleeping problems or something because of the "fix the clock" thing. Now I think it's kidnapping with "I'd take you out at breakfast time". I might have misinterpreted "take you out" as "take you to breakfast". Ahahaha. I have a long way to go. Perhaps it was "take you out" as in "take you out of your cage". If so, this is very interesting. |

HAHAHA. I love these comments. Regardless of who is actually the focus of this song, it's about fidelity in relationships. Sweet and honest. |

I agree with kevv. This song, to me, is exactly what falling in love sounds and feels like. It's amazing. Whenever I hear it, memories rush into my head. It's very vivid. |

The third stanza of this song is the one I can relate to the most. Women always want "true love" and when they find out that you don't even know if you can love or if love exists they hate you for it. |

If you don't listen to this album stoned, you're just scraping the top of how great it is. You feel the harmonies and the beats rollick over you. It's one of the most pleasant experiences I can recall. The nuances in rhythm and pitch throw you a loop. It's a journey through life. |

| Built to Spill – Nowhere Lullaby Lyrics

With the fifteen years part, maybe he's talking about his wife, but he's definitely referring to the amount of time he's been with Built To Spill. I saw Built To Spill a couple nights ago and I loved the show. They played a lot of their new stuff. It was the end of their tour I think. Doug is a really humble man.
What's interesting about a lot of Martsch's songs is that most of them are about life in general. For instance, this song talks about everything being better in the morning, not knowing what to do with your life (4th stanza when his says, "You can rest or you can try" as if to say you can waste your life or you can do something with it.) "trying not to solve this" must be trying not to solve the mystery of life, just living life is enough. A lot of his songs have a message like that. An example of this is the song "Car". The simple take on life that Doug has is definitely a motif in his songs. |

| Radical Face – Welcome Home Lyrics

I remember I listened to this song repeatedly for days when I was driving through the Columbia River Gorge. I always relate the song to the scenery. One side of the river is dry and barren, with no moisture or trees, rocks and shrubs. The other side (Oregon) is moist and has little waterfalls cascading down the side of the cliffs. The contrast of life and death and the theme of ghosts throughout the album really makes this song very powerful for me. The beginning is so eerie, with the wind chimes.. I love it. |

| Yo La Tengo – Tears Are in Your Eyes Lyrics

I've been through something just like that man. It's tough. I really liked her and she liked me and I thought it was all going to happen and then one night she called me and said she couldn't give herself to me until she let go of this one guy she really liked a year ago. It was terrible. It happened so fast. Now I'm trying to get out of another relationship that hasn't worked out either. It's so messy and heartbreaking.
I need to stop trying.. |

When entering Cobain's hometown, Aberdeen, the sign read "Come As You Are". This is definitely one of the more positive Nirvana songs. If Kurt left behind one good thing, it would be his avocation of being who you are. |

I think it's all a metaphor as well. I think he was in love and he got his heart broken and he became depressed and fell into "hibernation" to numb the pain. Then he feels ready to emerge from his sleep and start over trying to find love but he is unsure if he will be able to. In the song it says "I took it for love or at least something beautiful". That's him speaking about his love. Then it says "turned around squinting and saw that it was headlights" which is like him realizing that it was over and the "imminent" shock of it all. He was like an animal caught in the headlights, he was so drawn to the light and thought it was something lovely and beautiful and then was struck down. It's a very beautiful way of expressing heartbreak. A bear awaking from hibernation. I think it is very fitting. |

| Modest Mouse – Custom Concern Lyrics

This song is definately about society and how everyone becomes a clone of each other. "building a desert" is like the lack of communication between people. Custom Concern in itself seems to be about people in authority creating and analyzing people to act concerned for them. Like a room full of politicians all deciding how concerned they should be about the people. Mostly I think it's about how little people care for one another. |
