This is probably my favorite song off of Ocean Eyes. I never realized how beautiful Matt Thiessen's voice was until I heard him sing along with Adam in this song and sound almost equally as awesome as him. I really like the lines "I wish I could cross my arms and cross your mind." and "I forget the last time I felt brave, I just recall insecurity. 'Cause it came down like a tidal wave and sorrow swept over me." I think this song is about being depressed and kinda unhappy with the way your life is right now, but being happy because you know someday it will be a lot better.

Me and my friend both agree that this song sounds like it's about a guy who's about to do a school shooting. The "back of the class" verse seems a lot like that to me. |

I like this song, i really do. But it sounds WAY too much like Nevershoutnever. Not that there's anything wrong with NSN, but the chorus in this sounds a lot like Happy to me. And the part that starts "I'm falling in love..." sounds like 30 Days, only a little faster. |

I really like this song. I made a music video for it in my mind that plays every time i hear this. It's kinda cheezy and dorky, but here's how it goes:
The girl (I picture it as being Greta, but it could be anyone) is in a school Talent Show on stage with the spotlight on her. She's singing for the whole audience, but is looking at a guy (I picture being Bob) any time she looks up and it's like she's saying every word to him. They were in a relationship that fell apart and she still likes him a little. There are random clips of them fighting, and ones of each of them moping and contemplating their loneliness.
Then it gets to the "Echo" part and the spotlight changes so you can see the whole band. The girl is really concentrating on playing the song now so she doesn't look up at the guy for a while, but does when she says "For history's sake would you please take notice," and she sees he's gone. Then she hears his voice singing and realizes he's come on stage. By being there, it's like he's saying, "I know exactly what you're saying and feel the same way, i want you to notice, and I want to change."

OMG! I can relate to this song soo much!! It's one of the few songs that makes me cry. Even reading the lyrics, and seeing everyone else's opinions on it is making me tear up. I am going through the exact same thing right now and have been for a while. This guy and i were really good friends, but then we just kinda drifted apart, and i don't think he even cares.

This is so true!! Back when me and this guy were good friends, we never stopped laughing and were crazy ridiculous! But now he isn't here for me anymore. When it says "held grudges just to help us sleep", i think that is saying how back then we complained and kinda made up fake problems just to give us something to do, but now they've been replaced with real ones. I don't know if that makes any sense, but that's how it is for me, anyway. |
