This song is so beautiful, it makes me want to cry. I wish everybody knew about this band. Anyway, I just think that this song is about human being's tendency to try to explain things. I think in this song he is referring to the inaccuracies in the Bible. The first verse I think refers to the Bible being written and how today, things are interpreted so much differently. The chorus is the singer's doubt about the truth of the Bible. He thinks that it has done the world more harm than good. "in our trembling fear, we put words inside God's mouth. we cover our tracks and get so proud of ourselves." This i think means that we as humans have thought up what God wants and are pleased with ourselves when we do what we think He wants. Just what I think. =] |

This is such a beautiful song. It's a shame that this band isn't better known. I think this song is pretty straight forward. I think it's clearly about a girl (Grace?) who is depressed or suicidal and the singer is a friend trying to talk her out of it, telling her that he loves her. |

This is what this song means to me. I think the song is two viewpoints. A boy at first, then it switches to a girl, and then back. The boy and the girl are dating, perhaps they were friends before, so they know everything about each other. This part, "If you call this love, then show me some feeling and if it all goes numb, just keep on breathing." Would be the boy telling the girl to show more feeling in their relationship instead of giving up. The next part is where I imagine the switching of viewpoints to be, "I'll watch you falling from (I actually hear "Falling FOR me") me, When you hit the ground, maybe you'll see, The only way to fall is down." So it's the girl watching the boy fall in love with her, but she's been hurt by love before and knows that falling for someone can only hurt you. Then it switches back to the boy, "I'll be up in the stars, I'll be anywhere you are. just say you need me and I'll come down." He tells her that he'd do anything or go anywhere for her. It's a relationship that should be beautiful and there is still hope for it, but they'll have to work on it. "Oh, you know there's still a ways to go, so don't start retreating No, you just gotta take it slow When you're lost and all out of breath just call and I'll come running baby" |
