Really fantastic song. The chorus is spot on to my feeling right now. Well done whoever wrote this. For me it is about the future and the unknowing of it. In the moment it is easy to have fun with people in certain places. However, it is easy to just leave in relationships, whether it is friends, family or significant others. Start anew somewhere and go through it again is the easier option. It is the time spent with someone and the problems that you have to overcome that make it difficult and complex. At least that is what I take from it. |

| Can't believe no comments yet. such a fantastic song. Meaning is pretty straight forward. It is about falling in love, you don't need to spend too much time with someone to fall in love with them. He is questioning how true the love is and asking himself or is it just emotions. It is just that feeling when they aren't around and they are the only thing on your mind. Such a simple song (especially lyrically). Yet, there is something so simple about the lyrics that attaches us all. To anyone who has felt this way about someone else, it is probably one of the best things to say to another person. Sometimes gives me chills even though it is so repetitive. So, in the end with the instruments it is a fantastic song. Or maybe I just can't do without this person and it attaches to me, but maybe that is the whole point. mmmmmmmm. I enjoy it. |

First off, one of the best songs I've heard in forever. Clap your hands is soooo good. Second, this song is clearly about life, and feeling trapped. I feel exactly like this. I'll try and break it down if you feel like reading a rant... "Once, the dogs have quit their barking Son, my neighbor said to me, Know the emptiness of talking blue the same issue".......His life has settled down and he is bored. The person keeps talking about all these things he wants to do with his life, but doesn't for no reason really besides being stuck at where he is from. "Run - I'll do no more the talking Haunted by a past I just can't see Anymore Anymore"....Going off above, he is sick of just talking of things he wants to do, and is finally going to go do something. There is no reason why he isn't doing it, he just feels trapped by the place where he is from and is so familiar with, its hard to leave sometimes... "But let me tell you I have never planned To let go of the hand that has been Clinging by its thick country skin To my yellow country teeth"....Never planned to go away, just feels trapped and he wants to move on with his life, try something new. "Far, far away from West Virginia I'll try New York City Explaining that the sky holds you in The sun rushes in and a child With a shotgun can shoot down the honeybees that sting But this boy could use a little sting".....He wants to go away from where he is from, try something new, but its so hard, with all the feelings and its comforting to be in the place where he is (West Virginia), however, hes sick of holding himself back to whats out there, he can stay in one spot and be "sheltered" almost or he can go out there and feel stuff and explore. He needs to feel more emotions. "Who will get me to a party Who, do I have yet to meet You, you look a bit like coffee And you taste a little like me"....He left and wants to do new things at the new place, meet new people. The people he meets are different but instinctively the same as him (hopefully you know what i mean, basically humans just like him). "How can I keep me from moving Now I need a change of scenery"....He will get sick of this place and want to move eventually, constantly see new things and experience life. "Just listen to me I won't pretend To understand the movement of the wind Or the waves out in the ocean Over the hours I tread softly, slowly, plainly, blindly, oh me!"....So beautiful, *sigh*, :-)...He doesn't understand life, just wants to live and not waste his time that is passing so quick. Its a bit redundant, but essentially the song is about life, feeling trapped in it and all the lifestyles we get synchronized into. For example, getting up going to work coming home, sleeping and then doing it all over again. Try new things, stop talking about doing things and do it if you want to. We all do that, say we are going to do something but then don't because we are comfortable with where we are. This song is about going out and doing all the things life can throw at you. Get into a relationship, get your heart ripped out, see another culture, try new food, meet new people and etc... At least thats what i get from the song, and i am going through that point in my life where i feel exactly like this... haha... Overall fucking amazing song. clap your hands say yeah is easily one of my favorite bands and i think one of the freshest and talented musicians to come out in awhile. If they tour remotely close to my city i'm there!!!! lol |

Thriggle, i would agree with the fact that it could just be about an amusement park ride, however he says your LIKE a rollercoster, implying that he is describing something else as a rollercoster. Also, I believe its Rollercoster, IT was the best of times. Rollercoster, IT was the worst of times too. That said, the song could be about anything: life, a woman, drugs or whatever else makes you up and down. I personally think its about a woman, but that is because I just got out of a serious relationship. |
