The Smiths – Never Had No One Ever Lyrics 11 months ago
You're all wrong. Morrissey is counting back from the date of the release of the album to the date in 1965 when Ian Brady's and Myra Hindley's names were first revealed to the public.

The Beatles – Savoy Truffle Lyrics 13 years ago
What a load of pretentious twaffle. Whatever the song is about it defines the very essence of rock 'n'roll: unrestrained joy, wit and excitement. An uplifting experience amid three minutes of magic.

The Smiths – How Soon Is Now? Lyrics 17 years ago
Soho's "Hippychick" did indeed sample "How Soon Is Now", but the riff is itself borrowed - from Can's 1976 "I Want More", while the howling guitar refrain is a straight lift from Led Zeppelin's "The Rain Song".

The club referred to is the Hacienda in Manchester where Morrissey endured some particularly depressing nights in the early 1980s.

The Smiths – I Don't Owe You Anything Lyrics 17 years ago
Sorry, you all need to do a little research. The song is an account of the early relationship between the Moors Murderers, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. A read through Emlyn Williams' Beyond Belief will verify as much. (There will be more of these little gems on my forthcoming Smiths' Manchester walks. Watch the 'Net! - Ed.)
