| Pseudo Echo – Stranger In Me Lyrics

i see this song as being about having an identity crisis, like having two personalities- not like bi-polar, but when you get so mixed up and don't really know who you are anymore. how people around you think they have you sussed, but behind your awkardness or false confidence lies someone completely different who badly wants to be accepted.
'We're side by side and the sense is strong
I get the feeling that it won't be long
We seem alone in this mist and glare
But there's a stranger here somewhere'
Seems like the person is about to do something rash and reveal a side to their personality that the other doesn't know about...
i love this song, totally identify with it. |

When i heard this...it was quite disappointing. and i'm a big fan. but...this seems stale, and 'insanely repetitive'. It's simple, but not uniquely hooky- like their old stuff. Maybe they were (and still are) burnt-out, pothead man-children, but that's what was so great about their old stuff. Their Dookie album is brilliant (in my eyes anyway) and it says something about their lives, and it kind of helps others to recognise something in there that they have felt, or done, or experienced. But this political bull-crap just makes me feel like, 'yeah, there's problems in the world, but why not start in your own backyard, your own neighbourhood? Give us something vague, to help us understand our own world...with some insane beats! |

this is probably the accurate version, although my brother interpreted it as 'forget who you are and be what you're not', but either way it's pretty funny. very inspiring heheheh ;p actually, i hope that it's neil diamond. because when my brother said who it was i was like, wtf?? he sings about cherries and porcupines! although he was probably on the stuff when he wrote that :)) |

Pseudo's the bomb! and i'm not afraid to admit it!!! i must admit i'm a bit of a pseudo nut...
'Listening' was a major hit, although later on their cover of 'Funkytown' was a MASSIVELY major hit (am i exagerrating??). Personally i love their '84 album, as pharmageek pointed out 'the true gem'. their old stuff was pure and dramatic and totally Romantic...magic, if you appreciate brian's deep voice and the amazing synths...and the drums! don't get me started on them ;) |
