PEOPLE, PEOPLE! Instead of arguing the correct lyrics, take the band's word for it! :P http://animalcollective.org/lyrics/song/brothersport "it sucks that Daddy's DONE" Everything else is on there, so from now on, problem solved :) I take this song as what others said too: by saying Daddy's done, he's implying that the dad's life is done (dead). The dad raised them and they depended on him, but now that he's gone, they have to make it on their own, and Panda is pushing his brother, Matt, to do something as well (presumably with his voice). So it's about brotherly support :) |

Great song :) I think it's saying in the first part that even though he's with his "loved ones", he feels out of place. He's expecting more but is coming to the realization that they "can't hear", and are drunks. When he says "all the people i think i am are drunks", he's acknowledging that he used to be like them because they were together, but he realizes how they don't relate because of some differences that blatantly distinguish them (alcoholism). In the second part he refers more to one individual that was within this group. He used to have some kind of relationship with this girl i'm assuming. Even back then though, he never gave enough attention to her because he didn't love her enough, hence, he served her kraft dinner. She's a loser now, and was a loser then, which is why he "refused" her love. In the end he is not with her anymore, so now, as she eats kraft dinner, she is reminded of her past and thus reflects on that "one reminder". Separation, and the pain because of it. He's satisfied because he's out of the mess, but now she's left to mourn in her own doings (being a jerk-off loser). |
