| U2 – Where The Streets Have No Name Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| like a painting, a song can be looked at different angles... you can see many different things in the lyrics depending how u look at it, u decide what u see, it´s your interpretation... | |
| U2 – Zoo Station Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The bassline is the same as on Salomé. Parts of it anyway... check it out it´s pretty cool. | |
| U2 – Salome Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| The Zoo Station bassline on this one. Parts of it anyway... | |
| Depeche Mode – But Not Tonight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| this song is great, i love it, one of the best non-album songs DM has made, as LuvMartinGore says Gore is very good at writing something inspiring and at the same time cloak it in a dark vibe, and this song makes me feel good in a odd way, i think it´s about feeling good about your situation right now but somewhere in the back of your mind a dark past is lurking, but tonight it´s alright... | |
| U2 – I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| She´s a rainbow, i guess that´s a Rolling Stones reference, She´s a Rainbow from 1967. I love it when there are little keys in the lyrics to be found. | |
| James Blake – Limit to Your Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| like the great bluesmen, the repetition is a major part of the song-structure, like john lee hooker for instance or in any other blues and soul artists, i can hear that in some of James Blakes music, but it is performed in a modern, urban way, great stuff anyway, | |
| James Blake – Lindisfarne I Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Beautiful! | |
| James Blake – I Never Learnt to Share Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This is great stuff! James Blake is very a talented musician and he´s only 22 years old. What to come...? | |
| James Blake – The Wilhelm Scream Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Fantastic song! | |
| U2 – Zooropa Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Where the Streets have no Name and Zooropa have the same sweeping cinematic feel. The long intro in both songs, the guitar arpeggios and the hypnotic sound make the two songs a bit similar. Zooropa was written in aftermath of the fallen wall 1989, the iron curtain was no longer. We had no compass, no sense of direction. This song tries to describe that uncertainty, both personally and interpersonally. But there can be a strength in the uncertainty, a guiding light, a faith that carry you a long when you´re not able to. The song has a great spirit and an inner strength. I get a positive vibe when listen to Zoooropa. We can go overground and dream out loud. That´s sound pretty optimistic to me. It´s our world and we have the opportunity to make it work. Zooropa is a beautiful dream, |

| R.E.M. – Stand Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i can´t help it but i have always liked stand, it´s very infectious and catchy so maybe i am excused, the meaning is not so easy to find, but it seems to me it is about living in the present, to be grounded in reality, maybe stipe is pointing his finger at certain politics and how they deal with the environment, the falling trees bit must has to with that, anyway i like this one and the green album, great stuff... | |
| R.E.M. – Airportman Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Airports are strange places, everything is on the move, nothing stands still. The businessmen are maybe the only people that really fits in there. They move efficiently beyond security and are driven by great opportunities that lie ahead. They are a creatures of habit, they´ve done this thing thousand times, it has become a everyday thing. |

| Depeche Mode – Peace Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
// I'm leaving anger in the past With all the shadows that it caused There is radar in my heart I should have trusted from the start // I like this passage very much. It seems to me that Peace deals with inner-peace. You have to look inside of you to reach peace that transcends yourself. It begins with you, then you can deal with world outside... |

| U2 – Everlasting Love Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Great cover. I really love Bonos little laughter at 1:39. Sounds like a recording from a church, big sounding, Waterboys-like. | |
| U2 – Big Girls Are Best Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
they sure had some fun in the studio during recording this one, i like the zoo station rhythm track, sexy beat... it seems like bono was improvising on the mic here and getting some wild imagery: She's elliptical, also political Also spiritual, not superficial Yeah, she's tropical Yes, she's illogical Those little girls are a pest Big girls are the best What this means specifically you have to ask Bono. She´s the tide in Mysterious Ways, she´s as close to God you can get. That´s what I think is one interpertion. |
|
| Simple Minds – Alive And Kicking Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This is a great love song, but not an ordinary one. Is it written about God or a woman? Jim married Chrissie Hynde, singer with the Pretenders, in 1984 so this could be a celebration of their love. Anyway this is an uplifting song in many senses. It takes me back to the mid 80s seeing the video. I remember thinking this is a beautiful song and a beautiful video. A great song elevates you. It lifts you up to the crucial top. | |
| Simple Minds – I Travel Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Never heard anything like I Travel before or after either, totally unique sound. Krautrock on speed. Touring with a rock and roll band, you see a lot of things, good and bad. Here in a frantic pace change is coming fast, buildings falling down, men are marching and language is a problem. Communication is the problem. How to understand each other. |
|
| U2 – Discothèque Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
being on the outside looking in that´s theme here, i know that feeling, you can´t get in ´cos of different reasons, there´s the comsumer angle too, we can´t get enough of things and we don´t really understand why we need all those things, we look for the real thing in wrong places sometimes, but that´s part of life, we still have not found what we are looking for... the pop album is a very serious record , discotheque sounds at first kind of throw a away, but underaneath it all there are some serious stuff going on... |
|
| U2 – Mercy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| i think Mercy is one the most powerful, strong, emotional songs ever made by U2 ... i hope to hear it on a prorper album soon, that would be magnificent... | |
| U2 – Lemon Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Lemon and Mysterious Ways deal with simmilar themes. In Mysterious Ways she´s slipping away in Lemon he is trying to swim out to her. Another example is this: Lemon: "You're gonna meet her there She's your destination You gotta get to her She's imagination" Mysterious ways: "She's the way - She turns the tide She sees a man, inside the child Yeah" It seems that she has a power that the protagonist tries to reach or find. Both songs deals with lust and how to deal with its consequences. Lemon has a more a Brian Eno feel over it than Mysterious Ways. "Lemon - see through in the sunlight" refers to, if I am right, to Bono´s mother´s dress, a yellow dress that sunlight shines through. My favourite part is when the liquid piano kicks in after about one minute and Bono goes from falsetto to his usual tenor. Lemon is a great track, with alot in it. |

| U2 – Stand Up Comedy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
"The wire is stretched in between our two towers" Philippe Petit on the wire between WTC 1 and 2. Like Philippe Petit you sometimes got to take the step across the abyss. The song is about courage, I think, and love is the greatest thing whether you believe in God or not. "Out from under your beds", folks! |

| U2 – Ultraviolet (Light My Way) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Desperation is the word that comes into mind hearing this song. In times of despair you need someone to light your way. |
|
| U2 – Always Forever Now Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| If I remember right Always Forever Now was the tilte of next U2 album after Zooropa. It was a long time ago, so I can be wrong. Anyway, the next album was called POP instead. This song seems to be a sketch with the musical groundwork laid, only the lyrics missing. | |
| U2 – Even Better Than The Real Thing Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song is as close U2 has got to The Rolling Stones. I think Even better is about different states of excess: greed, sex and addiction. During ZOOTV the song found its real home, with Bonos handycam and all messages and images on the screens on stage. Desire and Even better than the real thing are in some ways smiliar. They are both performed in frantic and exhilarating pace. An early demo called The Real Thing, that eventually became the song on Achtung Baby, was recorded during the same session as Desire. |

| U2 – Desire Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
The Mirror Ball Man from ZOOTV was born out of desire. A song about blind ambition and as all we know greed is good! Right? |

| U2 – Elvis Ate America Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Like Elvis and America on The Unforgetable Fire this seems to be an improvisation. But this song is more structured and the lyrics more coherent. Howie B co-wrote Elvis ate America and laid the rhythmtrack and is shouting Elvis trhu out the song. I think this is kind of defence and celebration of Elvis Presley and his life. The line, Elvis ate America before America ate him, is very good. Elvis was bigger than anyone thought in the 50´s, but in the end the world had finally caught up with him. But depsite that, his achievements are still as much as relevant now as then. |
|
| U2 – Elvis Presley And America Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song is the resulat of Brian Enos and Daniel Lanois experimentations. The rythmtrack of A Sort of Homecoming was slowed down and they told Bono to improvise the lyrics and the melody. It´s a stream of consciousness where the words seems to be comming from a far. Very ethereal and atmospheric. |

| U2 – 40 Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I know this is a place for lyrics, but the music can also be of importance too. Lyrics can be very overt sometimes, as in this case, and music can be more subtle in it´s meaning. When U2 recorded "40" they were under pressure because of the time was running out and were about be kicked out of the studio. Adam was absent so Edge plays both the guitar and bass parts. The bass line reminds me of some Joy Divsion song whree the bass is in the front of the mix. Depsipte the lack of time when recordning this song it gives no sign of rush or haste, its very warm and gentle. I think they´re doing their best work when under pressure. And some comments on some other posts here. U2 are not first artists that are using religion and faith in their work. There are a lot of artists, poets, writers and painters who have used biblical imagery in their art. So I do not understand why that would be so bad. It´s good to have different points of view, especially in religion and faith. |

| U2 – Dirty Day Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
//Hear what I say, nothing's as simple as you think// This line summarize everything for me about this song. Dirty Day is about commnunication gone wrong, and the end result is missnunderstanding in some way. The song could also refer to the story in the Bible about the Prodigal Son. |
