Wow, another favorite song of mine that has no comments! This song is about fighting between who you are and who other people want you to be. All day you spend putting up a frontm saying things people expect from you, and having to watch everything you say, but at the end of the day, all that's left is just you. |

I agree completely 'bout what ur saying on the Scarlet Letter line. Haha, and also take comfort in the fact that while Taylor started off as country, she was adopted early on by pop culture. So truthfully, I really don't think she's technically considered country, anymore at least. |

This song is amazing. I've always thought of it as the person singing saying how he's done wrong before (odviously with the "When my time comes/ Forget the wrong that I've done" line) and he's also somehow wronged the person he's talking to ("Don't resent me") But that he wants the person's help to be able to change his ways and thus leave behind something positive for people to remember him by ("Help me leave behind some/ Reasons to be missed") That's my interpretation. Any other thoughts? |

"Take a look at me so you can see How beautiful you are..." Love that line. Reminds me of an arguement I got in with my friend when she was saying how not pretty she is, I told her that I could certaintly think of someone who would disagree. (Meaning of course, the guy who likes her) She said something about 'well it's nice that he thinks that.' But I disagreed, maybe it's just me, but I've always thought that it's that one special person's opinion that decides it all, I mean if that one guy/girl thinks that of you, does anyone else's opinion even matter? Anywho, that's just what I always think of hearing this song. That he was trying to convince her of the beauty he sees in her. |

Wow, I'm surprised nobody's commented on this song. It's one of my favorite on the album, probably because I knwo the feeling. To me he's talking about odviously dealing with something, wether it be depression, or just something else that really effected him. But he wants someone to be there to listen to and comfort him, but there's nobody there. Sleep is his only chance for relief, but even that is failing him. |
