This is another stab at society and conformism. I think he is describing a change coming, from conformism and brainwashing, too free thought, and individual opinions. "And no doubt this will be Part of our history We're making our move And we're breaking out of the grind" Its describing the rise in popularity of left ideals, especially amongst the youth: "Today, the new age We'll rise up State our case Throw it down" Then it says that the only people who will be successful are those who are able to think for themselves. "And after the rain The only ones that still remain Are standing proud Separated from the crowd" But then he goes on to admit that he doesn't know everything (how do we know); and asks for the objective truth, without manipulation (turn on the light), because he needs to decide, and form his own opinions. He then decides to take his chances with the information he has. Its very similar to 'Wake Up' because he doubts all information sources, because of all the bias. "New information Coming down the line But as far as I can tell It's just the blind leading the blind" I think the word 'line' is both a reference to the internet, and a reference to Chinese whispers. Its basically just saying that all these people blinded by their own preconceptions are posting things on the internet and spreading their own agenda. I think its a great song, because all it does is encourage free thought. It doesn't actually support any political mind set. While I interpret them as supporting the left, all they do is encourage you to think for yourself, and to be wary of bias and manipulation. |

WTF is wrong with international students? They pour money into our university system - they all pay more then we do. Without them we would all have to pay more. "Teachers in today's society are stressed by lack of pay, so they become Left & didactically close their minds, " You, my friend, are a moron. Stress causes people to turn left? where did you pull that from? Anyway, the song is about not being able to trust the education system: "I've been buried in the sand I've come down with no place to land" If you can't trust the education system, then you can't trust everything that you've been taught. He is just saying that he has no solid ground to stand on anymore, because he doesn't trust his own perception/mind, because it was molded by the education system. Most of the rest of the song basically expresses the point of view that humanity is doomed if we are all brainwashed to think the same way. Progress happens with innovative, creative, new ideas. If the education system stifles creativity and open thinking; and promotes conformism, them humanity is doomed. Also, we are doomed because the masses are being taught to mindlessly follow the leaders. The leaders are only interested in making money at the expense of the masses, and this is doomed to collapse. There might even be a little of global warming/environmental destruction in there. |

"But I'd rather risk my fate, Than to lose my faith." He is saying that he disagrees with some things from the Bible, and he would rather risk going to hell then compromise his beliefs. "In the lovin, the hatin," Says that religion can cause both love and hate "The constant debatin, The chaos, the calm." This is just describing all the debating, fighting, wars and politics that surround religion. "The constant deny" The religious are denying reality, because religion is much nicer. |
