Poets Of The Fall – Psychosis Lyrics 13 years ago
FINALLY!! A song with lyrics I get! (Or at least I feel like I do)
I think he's talking about the constant ebb and flow of life. It goes from absolute high's to total lows and in effect puts us into a sort of psychosis.

But the important part is the chorus,

"And I see that it makes me anti-everything"
Here I think the "it" he's talking about is life

"And I see that makes me want to shed my skin"
This is the opposite value. Its that breaking point where you refuse to let the anti-everything aspect of life get you down, and as a result YOU take charge and YOU make something out of it.

I think if you look at the reference to religion as more of a reference to a generalized way of thinking you see the song isn't necessarily about drug use or religion but rather through taking all the adversities of life, overcoming them and defining your life on your own terms. Life is the psychosis, religion is the start of your own personal revolution against the norm so to speak.

Poets Of The Fall – Lift Lyrics 15 years ago
I feel as though this song is about how we can keep what we think or believe entirely to ourselves and because of that there is a certain perception of thoughts and ideals which have become such a norm we simply accept them and TWIST these beliefs in such a way that we forcibly conform them to our own. Hence the author's fear of disappearing. Despite this, there is someone or something wholly spiritual though not religious in nature which compels him to abandon the conformity and accept his own ideas and beliefs and give them wings. I personally believe that every reference made to "you" is actually the singer personifying his dreams. Do that and most of the song suddenly makes far more sense. The chorus really demonstrates this as dreams can lift ones spirit and one can also take this inspiration from a dream and make it their own.

(And to anyone who has seen the music video, it is abundantly clear that this isn't a "God song" since there is a very provocative move the lead vocalist makes on the female parole officer. Pretty sure anyone under a Christian label would NOT be able to have that scene in a music vid.)

Crossfade – Washing the World Away Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is about someone being trapped within their own mind, constantly living for only themselves. No matter what this person does, he can not find anyway to ease the pain as referred to by the word "blind". They also realize that in the "blink of an eye" they could end all their suffering by ending their own life thus "washing the world away". Despite all of this, there is some distant hope barely visible this person clings to which keeps him from ending everything making the quick escape impossible.

All the while this person is trying to hide away from the world out of either fear or pure sorrow, there is still a part of himself which is constantly looking and desperately trying to seek some meaning in their life which lets them "find their way".
