| Savatage – Dead Winter Dead Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
No One? Okay, I'll give it a shot. I think the part about going on stage is maybe someone finding that the cause they once fought over feels hollow, which is why his dream has reached its December. |

| Anberlin – Reclusion Lyrics | 12 years ago |
|
These lyrics are from a different song. This is 100% wrong. It should go something like this: There's someone inside me that softly kills everyone around They don't know they're dead to me cause intent never makes a sound All along they found I've strangled lovers who've learned from slower hands With these eleven minutes I could teach you what I am You're sick, sick as all the Secrets that you deny Sins like skeletons are so very hard to hide and so on... |

| Poe – Haunted Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| I'm about 95% sure she's saying "para papa" at the start and not just nonsense syllables. After all, isn't this song a dedication to her father? (para papa=for daddy) | |
| Ed Harcourt – Haywired Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
Eccentric boy meets girl. Thinks that she would never notice him. (But she does.) His mind was racing and chaotic, love-struck. Then he felt like he was in a dream, he "felt I'd been asleep for a thousand years, and life would remain a mystery." He doesn't want to wake up from this 'dream', yet he misses her and it makes him crazy. Then he 'lost his mind' and decided that he wanted to marry her, but had to get past self-destructive tendencies? He had to get his head out of the clouds to recognize the real thing from 'falling in love with love'. But, in the end, and this is my favorite part: "Its not easy to be happy, GET AWAY WITH IT." |

| The Darkness – Girlfriend Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I definitely agree with the notion that they are trying to keep (or revive or whatever) Glam Rock. I mean in another video Justin wore the same pantsuit as the one worn in the film "Tommy" by The Who, and the flamboyant style is also really up David Bowie's alley... Anyway, this is definitely about him cheatin' on his girl. An the video is done as a pastiche of all things 80's. ~~It's, like, totally awesome!~~ |

| Shinedown – Devour Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
While I was listening to this song it occurred to me that although the concept of devouring might seem entirely disparate to the Roman Empire, there is a somewhat tenuous connection wherein the original symbol for the Roman Empire was the wolf--and the wolf is often depicted in literature as a Deadly Devouring Force. *Gives an innocently lupine grin.* |

| Zac Maloy – Early Morning Phone Call Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| Like nine years ago my friend went in for a surgery which had about a 95% success rate and died. I heard about her death via telephone, and, since I'd heard this song for the first time on the radio the day before... | |
| Three Days Grace – Let You Down Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
<<*Pulls imaginary dagger out of back, hands it over, pommel forward.* "Oh, I'm sorry, is this yours?"-- Yeah, this song is like that. |
|
| The Darkness – Is It Just Me? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think the lyric is "Til death do us part" not "to take this too far"; then there's "to honor and trust, in sickness and health" So I think maybe in addition the song being about to long distance lonliness, it's about him thinking about marrying her? also, the music video involves a wedding with a twist. | |
| Chevelle – Sleep Apnea Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Actually, sleep apnea wakes you up usually only from REM sleep(dreaming), which seems(to me,anyways) worse 'cuz you spend all this time asleep but aren't really GETTING anything productive out of "these shifting hours". (Not only that, you feel viciously hungover w/o a single drink) If the singer is talking about a shortened amount of time spent sleeping overall; then he's probably got insomnia or something, but it's more likely a metaphor of some sort. | |
| Santana – Corazón Espinado Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Awesome song... you do realize there's a couple of errors though? I'm pretty sure it's "Dolido y abandonado" not herido. (hurting, not wounded) and there's a piece missing... its "ahy ahy ahy corazon espinado como me duele, me duele mama" then he says "ahy ahy ahy como me duele el amor"... It's a pretty dark song... he talks about how she's killing him; his heart being stuck with thorns or barbs or nails (im not sure which) squashed (aplastado)and abandoned (abandonado). But then he basically says that she'll get her comeuppance when HER heart is similarly broken one day... |

| Paul McCartney – Hope of Deliverance Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| One of my sister's favorite songs... a very pretty song; this one is definitely underrated. I've always thought it to be about enlightenment (he's hoping for enlightenment)... kinda like in that cave allegory, wisdom is found when you step out of the shadows and into the light. | |
| Doro Pesch – Undying Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
Pretty song. Why aren't there any comments for this artist? I think the meaning is pretty straightforward (Love is undying). Her lover has died and at first it makes her a little sad/bitter but then she feels his spirit and she realises that she will be with him again someday... |
|
| The Birthday Massacre – Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Personally, this song creates an image of a room empty of guests with streamers and helium baloons and soda and plastic cups and birthday cake... all in that pale shade of blue (the one that they use to welcome innocent baby boys into the world.) | |
| The Birthday Massacre – Blue Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
is it (the lyric) coke-head or car can... crash? also I can't help but wonder given the references to invitations and parties if there was a little play on words with spite and Sprite. "Black tongues speak faster than the ... crash" "You supply the envy And I'll provide the sprite" |
|
| The Birthday Massacre – Weekend Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I would like to point out that this song is also subtitled (NYC 77) So maybe it has something to do with that famous blackout and the crime wave that followed... It also kinda reminds me of Bananarama's Cruel Summer as well as Sunday Bloody Sunday. | |
| Martin Luther – Rise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This singer (who I first heard in Across the Universe)is one cool cat and the song is pretty too. | |
| Rihanna – Disturbia Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Children of abusers are often afraid of becoming and can become abusers themselves. (Very sad but true) This song seems to be about that mental turmoil. |
|
| The Dandy Warhols – We Used To Be Friends Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think It's about that awkward moment when you bump into someone you deliberately stopped being friends with a couple of years earlier-- Will you be able to focus on the positive because it is in the past or say "bring it on"? I think he takes the positive route because he sounds nostalgic and the song is upbeat. |
|
| The Wallflowers – Everybody Out Of The Water Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Is Jakob Dylan a Clearence Clearwater Revival fan? It's an intriguing song about some apocalyptic disaster. | |
| Sting – Englishman In New York Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I don't know if anyone has brought this up theres a hilarous parody version named "Jamaican in New York" by shinehead (Which played the day before i moved back to the states). This is my favorite song by Sting; although its about tolerance in general I think, its also about his gay friend and about being an immigrant. I wish there were more songs about immigrants; there are lot of good reasons to move to the states (or to move to another country). Because they moved here it gives further incentive to be patriotic they have gone through A Lot just to come here Legally. Also, since they're from other countries it gives a periodic infusion of differing cultures which certainly helps to stave off stagnation. |

| Savatage – Not What You See Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This is off of the dead winter dead album its about the Bosnian War in the nineties; its clearly from someone who feels misunderstood: "(I) don't understand what you want me to be It's the dark you're hating, it's not who I am But I know that it's all that you see" It was basically a civil war involving ethnic groups (and such crimes as you'd expect: allegedly there was rape, concentration camps, genocide) I think the band was trying to preach tolerance. Theres a love story on the album about a Serb boy and a Muslim girl. I don't really know much about this war so if I have it wrong Please correct it. Anyway i think the lyrics are pretty and isn't this a rondella? (4 "people" singing and overlapping) Thats not easy to do. Also I like the guitar bit in the middle. |
|
| Yoko Kanno – Psychedelic Soul Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| This is a very pretty joyous song. You are swarmed with waves of music and in the midst of it you have lyrics about how everything reaches its end (death)because time can't be overcome. | |
| Orgy – Fiction (Dreams In Digital) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
In my opinion what is it about: The Wired. The thing about the friend's coma further broadens its meaning. |
|
| Pink Floyd – Learning to Fly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Oh and dies ofcourse, very sad. Id like to point out that Pink Floyd supposedly did the score for a movie that was based on that story so they Do know it. | |
| Pink Floyd – Learning to Fly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song (At least to me) is about Icarus of Greek Mythology. First Icarus dreamed of building himself some wings so that he could fly. "a flight of fancy on a wind swept field" I believe it grew into an obsession, his father Daedalus tried to talk him out of it. They made some wings out of birdfeathers and wax and flew. But as they climbed skyward Icarus "unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything" he thought his father was flying too low too safe and "a fatal attraction holding me fast, how can I escape this irresistable grasp? can't keep my eyes from the circle-in-the-sky" he dared himself to go higher towards the sun. The only line that doesnt quite fit for me is "ice is forming on the tips of my wings" unless you consider that we know now that he would never get close enough to the sun for the wax to melt because its so far away, however ice is a good modern substitute, anyway the reclessness and lack of preparation on Icarus's part leads to him being "unladened, empty and turned to stone" (without fuel he will crash) and him hanging "above the planet on a wing and a prayer" his father realizes too late that the wings are coming apart and tries to save him "no navigator to guide my way home" but is too far away. And in the end he crashes "tongue-tied & twisted just an earth-bound misfit, I." |
