| The White Stripes – We're Going to Be Friends Lyrics

Anyone see this performed on Conan? Jack was getting really bent out of shape.
I think maybe it has some deeper connotations than "innocence" to it.
Perhaps its "i can tell that we are going to be friends" rather than lovers, instead of a sweet childhood song. |

| Caribou – She's the one Lyrics

I'm thinking that she's not actually the one. that the writer knows he can do better elsewhere, but he won't because another part of him feels like it's hopeless. He feels obligated to stay with this girl because of her arbitrarily placed oneness. |

I'm getting that he's saying that there's so much bad news around, he could talk about it, but his partner is more interesting. There so much to do, but she seems pretty beautiful. |

I think it's more specific than that. I think it' about starting a family, and realizing that you don't have the strength to finish what you started.
"And when it comes, you'll feel the weight of it" can be understood to mean if mr. Coxon quits, his partner will feel the effects. |

| The Olivia Tremor Control – The Gravity Car Lyrics

I think it's about the progression of the world. The earth is a gravity car, how it seems like everything in our atmosphere sticks around the land, but everything else floats off in space. |

| The Mae Shi – Young Marks Lyrics

I think it tells the story of someone who has freewill living among people without it. In Hlllyh, he is essentially the exception to this god-based apocalypse. He's raised as a normal person, but knows there's something shaky about this. The water burns his back because for some reason he is unlike a creature that god would create. In the end, he's impressed with what god has done with existence. |

| Dan Deacon – Snake Mistakes Lyrics

I don't know if Dan Deacon writes lyrics to be analyzed, but perhaps he's just talking about little problems and solutions? He makes stupid mistakes, ones that slip right in front of you, and he's bothered by little problems, or bees.
And I have no idea bout the dad part. |

| Born Ruffians – Kurt Vonnegut Lyrics

Seems like both writers know that Man only has the illusion of a choice in life, and that we'll always try to do the same things because we're trapped.
The outro is wonderful. |

| The Notwist – This Room Lyrics

Maybe because i've been reading an unreasonable amount of existential literature, but maybe it's about being trapped in humanity. We have all these structures set up to understand the world, but what it comes down to always is that we're rational beings trapped in an irrational world, and no matter what we do, we'll never understand anything. |

I'm just going to go ahead any say that it's about self-responsibility.
"and don't forget you're the only one
(you're the only one)
you hold your kite on a string"
You control your life completely. They remind us to not sleep to long, because there is an apparent reality.
There's probably something else in there about realizing dreams. |
