I think this song was meant to be on the concept album about the end of the world. It's about the after effects of war and destruction. It's comparing the beauty of a place like Zihuatanejo with some post-war environment that is corrupted and infected by nuclear war etc. Just my opinion. |

To me, whether it is a literal or metaphorical "drawing", it is the idea behind drawing a person... Finding someone who can show you exactly what you are, without softening it around the edges. I love this song, it's full of emotion and so beautiful. |

It gets me on so many levels it's unbelievable. I think it's about self-doubt and loathing after you've lost everything. I think it's about feeling completely alone and finding it impossible to share anyone elses happiness. It's a beautiful song and i love it. |

I love this song. It means so much to me. Although it is part of a concept album, i believe that the lyrics are vague enough to be interpreted in any way. I have a strong memory of using the lyric: "Sleep well tonight, i'll wake you at the first sign of light" I changed it to 'i'll see you at the first sign of light'. I remember saying it to my ex boyfriend in November, when we would see each other in the morning and it was just starting to get light. It so strongly reminds me of him it's hard to listen to, but i love it. |

This is a beautiful song, very different for Avenged Sevenfold, but i admire that. I think, mainly due to lyrics, it is my favourite song by them. Okay, here goes my interpretation of the song meaning: "A lonely road, crossed another cold state line Miles away from those I love purpose hard to find While I recall all the words you spoke to me Can't help but wish that I was there Back where I'd love to be, oh yeah" This verse very obviously talks about missing someone who means alot to you, both in a distance scenario and a time one. By saying 'purpose hard to find', it's almost like he can't really see why he's there, not with his loved one. "Dear God the only thing I ask of you is to hold her when I'm not around, when I'm much too far away We all need that person who can be true to you But I left her when I found her And now I wish I'd stayed" This could both be taken in the sense that you are far away from a loved one, or you regret leaving a relationship, i love the fact that he is asking 'God' for one pure, simple thing, that he wants nothing, but for her to be safe and happy. "There's nothing here for me on this barren road There's no one here while the city sleeps and all the shops are closed Can't help but think of the times I've had with you Pictures and some memories will have to help me through, oh yeah" This is basically looking back on what they had, what he's left behind. "Some search, never finding a way Before long, they waste away I found you, something told me to stay" This is basically saying how hard it is to find someone you love, to find love in general and that you should hold onto it when you get it. "I gave in, to selfish ways And how I miss someone to hold when hope begins to fade..." This is his regret at having left everything they had. This song is actually very broad and easy to relate to and it has very personal meanings to me, and i love it. <3 |

This is my favourite Taking Back Sunday song. For so many reasons... Lyrically... "...You could slit my throat, and with my one last gasping breath, i'd apologise for bleeding on your shirt..." An amazing and powerful lyric, it manages to express that no matter what that person does to you, you will still love them, never want to do anything that would make them unhappy. Also because it reminds me so strongly of my ex boyfriend, my first love, who got me into TBS, it was the first song that made me want to hear more of them and everytime i hear it i remember us and what it was like... "...All I need to know is that I'm something you'll be missing..." I like this lyric simply because it sums up that feeling that even though you have parted with someone, they still want you, need you, care about you in some way... You're so last summer... <3 |
