I don't understand why people must be so judgemental of each other. We're all among fans here, are we not? Personally I think this song is about losing. Not necessarily a person, but any number of things that might be lost. "Ohne dich kann ich nicht sein" - without you I can not be. Meaning that at first you may think there's nowhere to go after losing something that has influenced or affected your life very strongly, but eventually you move on and accept it. |

This song has quite deep meaning even though the main idea is right in the title. Within a mile of home is just that. No matter where you are, who you're with, what you're doing, you can always be within a mile of home at heart. |

To me this song is about marijuana. The phrase "People talk about me baby, say I'm doin' you wrong, doin' you wrong" seems like something cannabis would say if it could talk. and "Don't worry baby, don't worry , 'cause I'm right here at home" is a reassuring thing it would say to let us know it's always going to be there to console. "... And I'm a sinner, I play my music in the sun" seems to let one know that even though it may be a "sin" to take part in illegal activities such as smoking marijuana, it's ok. And of course "I sure don't want to hurt no one" refers to the fact that peace is a very important thing. |
