Yea, this song takes place on the Northern Cal coast, but it isnt about the location. Its a narrative of a feeling of a day during a season, of a moment. I hear the sound of the sun still shining an hour or two before the coming sunset. I feel the weight of sitting there all day rolling these thoughts around my head between what I want and what it could be. I ain't Kerouac, damn, I ain't even Kerouac's brother. How do I describe the road? Hell, I cant even get out of my seat. Where was I going? What am I after? Oh yeah. Cigarettes and carrot juice. Maybe a new tatto. |

this album was a departure for the band. They did things different sonically and with instrumentation but it is still the same great song writing. I think this song is about the bands view of thier own music and how it can be hard to grow internally as a song writer. "you already know I love you, and I sound like whats-his name" is saying "I know youve heard this before, but not from me". And "but you cant stop me, I want you to know", is the determination to be myself and you should understand how special that is. |
