First all of their songs had meanings, even if it was im the shit, and you all fucking suck. That is still a meaning. And really for me this song kinda reminds me about how violence makes you famous, just as blunt as can be. If you want to make a statment, violence is the easiest way to make it, and you can get famous by doing so. Like i dont know, hostage situations, school shootings, riots, that makes the news, and its insta-famous, even if its not a ppl like you kind of famous. |

| This song reminds me of rape. just the way it is set up, it saying "there is nothing you can do that i have already done to my self", well obvious is masurbation at the start. but after that "never wanted to dance with you, then you wouldn't take no for an answer you bitch". so a girl was harrasing a guy to dance with her but just does not want to, eventually after a while the guy is somewhat forced into dancing, or having sex in another contest, the horizontal monster mash, you know what i mean. At the begining starts of wants it to be nice and not be hurt, then soon realizes that if fees great, and wants more. When it says after that "there is nothing you can do that i have not already done to myself HEY?" otherwise saying hey that is something else and is unexpected and good. Eventually saying he is to good for the second grade, which would be masturbation. Then eventually comes down to the guy harrasing the girl all the time for sex then is raped by him, as the table has turned. It somewhat is making fun of the "bar stars" pretty much like the entire album is. I love it!!!!!!! | |

*Small blerb of a fictional story based on the song* I enjoy to tell a little story about this song after its done, be if fiction, or be it a theory you judge, i do agree with it being about a groupie lady idea tho. Dax knew the lady and she was a groupy, and a prostitute and an abbid drug usser. He has seen her several times, as she was a groupy and did follow the band around to several different cities, and states (That acctually did happen but the rest is fiction). At the beginning of Her following them around on tour. I could see Dax in a drunken stumble walking up to her and telling her "You know one day... If you keep living like this... Your going to end up dead, on a beach somewhere" and then stumble off. Then finally maybe after Dax and the band have had a go at her several times they didn't really want her anymore. Maybe told her off told go die on a beach somehwere, and she stopped showing up to shows. Just working the streats so she can get her next fix, to get too the next day. Several months latter, the band comes back to play a show, after they go through night enjoying being high and druck as f**ks. They see her, on the side of the road, she turned her face down hopping that they would not see Her. Dax screams out to her "Hey you! What the fuck happend to you? You dissapeared." and as he keeps on talking to Her, the rest of the bands walks on, to find a party. Dax is not seen for the rest of the night. He does show up in the morning, with sand in his hair, and doesn't really know what happend the other night as it was just a big black spot. Then the band carries on, to the next city, for the next show. Several days latter Her body is found, on a secluded beach, and her soul gone. Lifless, with such peace. Maybe there is a reason that this song is is filled with such excitment, and such dissapointment. The end of a life, but the birth of a death. The experience comes back in blotches to haunt Dax, as remembers the first time he died, or perhaps a kill. Has the killer ever been found? I don't know, and from my knowledge there hasn't. |

I was reading one day and stumbled upon some crazy info i never knew before. Black flags were and still are a symbol for the Anarchists. Sometimes there were black and red flags as well, but most were black. So by burning your black flags he is putting her anarchy to an end. To peace. Therefore releasing her from her crazy life of and bringing her to the ultimate peace, death. By saying "burning your black flags was kinda a joke in it'self cause we have flag warnings for the rip current greed ok to swim yellow at risk red no swimming." I really think that its not a joke, in fact if i had written a song with such a serious feeling to it, I would take it as an insult. There isnt really any real jokes in any of theirs songs from what i can think of. Dax is pretty serious in his lyrics for acid bath. Also no great lyricist would think of destroying such an amazing song such as this by puting in a usless joke that has nothing to do with the song. That would just ruin it. |

I agree with molly was a good girl. IM pretty sure its about all hte followers at the time the album was released the fan's were to young, and he could fuck them because they were to young. Also from this album it sounds like they are going more towards lyrics that are making fun of these ppl. The hipsters or emo kids because he HATES THEM, and how they just follow and never lead. look at the song you'll rebel to anything, has the same feel. The moral of the story is if you are 16 or under dont try to sleep with the band becuase they dont want to go to jail for that reason because the inmates dont like rapists or pedophiles. |

for me what this song is about would be the logging industry as the "metal beasts" or whatever machines are used to log, go through and chop down all the trees, old and young. The trees also try to fight back as we know the roots make their way and can destroy rock, and walls. Also the roots "feed off the dead" as they return to the earth and the roots nurish from them. the "green shadow" are forests that are trying to reclaim what they had but we destroyed and now they are going to come back. and when they do "when every structure falls you'll know the forest is king." and our payment is our demise. So all in all this song is about the war between the industrial world (humans) vs the forest. and for refering it to warcraft, and lord of the rings... i dont have anything to say, just that it is a rediculous comment. |
