I think he is talking about a girl who left him for someone rich and famous. 'Trading themselves in for the perfect one and for diamond eyes.' At the begining he asks her to stay to explain herself and tells her that his heart is exposed. He tries tho get her back by explaining what she has become with verse 2. Then by saying "I know you cant feel a thing. It hurts to feel anymore" he means she is gone and is living the life of having everything she wants except for love and feelings.... What do u guys think? |

The whole cd has lots of meaning to it, definitely worth buying. This is one of my favorite songs because it can relate to so many different people. Too many people want society to associate with their beliefs and interests. However there are so many different type of people in our world, unfortunately so many people discriminate against different people: hence "judge a life that you can't change". Many people discriminate and believe stereotypes to feel better about themselves but no one is perfect. My two favorite lines in this song define that: "There's a touch of gray for every shade of blue" & "If there was nothing wrong then there'd be nothing right". I agree that shinedown wrote this song for a certain person but applies to all of us. The least we can do is give everyone a chance without defining them by their background, family life, associations, race, etc. to make our world stronger. |

I think this song describes the endless search for what to do next in your life and who you are. It describes how everything is always changing, your surroundings and yourself. Only you can find yourself through living. You can't find yourself through by just asking someone. Just be yourself and live the way you feel you should, that is the only way to find yourself. |
