| The Posies – I Guess You're Right Lyrics | 15 years ago |

| A. A. Bondy – Of the Sea Lyrics | 15 years ago |
This song seems to be all about a relationship. I think that really generally speaking, the whole ocean is the symbol of love in this song. Give me your hand And I'll take you down Oh, can't you see that I'm dyin' to drown And don't hold your breath, my dear ^^ he wants to immerse himself in her. fall in love, but he just wants her to be as willing to as well, which is why he asks her to throw away her inhibitions with him. and join him at the bottom of the 'sea'. The hard times in this relationship is when their metaphorical air is hissing, the depths, the crush of the deep, the stinging salt, etc. but they still find solace in eachother, looking to the bright. And the ocean, it rolls And the depths take their toll When we get to the bottom, We'll kiss see? they still love eachother, even through what's rough. i love this song. |

| Sea of Bees – Willis Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think that : "all who are thirsty and all who are weak come to the fountain to be right in the streams of love all who are thirsty and all who are weak come to the fountain to be right " should ACTUALLY BE: "all who are thirsty and all who are weak come to the fountain dip your heart in the streams of love all who are thirsty and all who are weak come to the fountain dip your heart" |

| Local Natives – Sun Hands Lyrics | 15 years ago |
i think that just as a girl decides she is uninterested in him, he falls for her. He seems to see her as 'the sun', and furthermore, perhaps, the center of his universe. but she has moved on, chasing other stars, while he is left, only seeing her back. |

| Destroyer – 3000 Flowers Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Clytemnestra was the wife of Agamemnon, king of the Ancient Greek kingdom of Mycenae or Argos. Clytemnestra was also the daughter to Zeus and Leda. In the Oresteia by Aeschylus, she was a 'femme fatale' who murdered her husband, Agamemnon. figured this made more sense. :) |

| Noah and the Whale – Hold My Hand As I'm Lowered Lyrics | 16 years ago |
O Death, do not feel like the victor 'Cause my poor life makes you none the richer Oh, your cold hands are clutching at cloth I leave nothing on Earth that won't rot --- its like he is dying with his cold dignity. he is leaving an impression in the earth but not leaving anything material that lasts forever behind. |
| Noah and the Whale – Mary Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i agree with ASatisfiedMind. i broke up with a guy the moment he told me he loved me... ...the third day we started dating. sounds harsh. but i dont like those words to be used lightly. |
| Noah and the Whale – Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |

| Cake – Cool Blue Reason Lyrics | 16 years ago |
i cant believe no one has mentioned this because i think it is the most enchanting part of the whole song: in the beginning, if you listen to it with headphones in, the music is tuned to flow in and out of the earbuds so that it creates this swirling effect in your brain. well, not literally. it just feels like it. =D |

| Cake – Where Would I Be? Lyrics | 16 years ago |

i think Primus, here, is spot on. =) Wrapid seems to just be finding something to relate it to. |
| Modest Mouse – I Came as a Rat (Long Walk Off a Short Dock) Lyrics | 17 years ago |
"Well, I ain't sure, but I been told He's baking cakes inside our souls Stayed awake, took a nap Got myself my bottles back I'm breaking them out on the street Walking around in my bare feet" i think he is saying he feels he is content with the situation in the beginning--he is happy and in love--in the first for lines of this stanza. in the next two lines, he is tossing them out like they are meaningless or that he is upset. the bottles could symbolize his dignity. In the lines where he compares ("I came as gold, I came as crap, I came clean and I came as a rat...") he talks about what he thought vs. what she thought. "It takes a long time, but God dies too But not before he'll stick it to you Well, I don't know, but I been told You never die and you never grow old" I think that he is saying how despite how devoted he was to this girl and how much he loved her, he, too, can fall out of love with someone he once thought was so great. Im not sure what to make of the last line here, but i almost want to say he will remember her the way she was in his mind for the rest of his life...he wont forget her or put her in the back of his mind. These are just what i think, i could be right, and i could be VERY wrong. :P |

| Say Anything – It's a Metaphor, Fool Lyrics | 17 years ago |
oh c'mon, guys, ITS A METAPHOR, FOOL. if Max names a song something like this, giving it the image that its supposed to be deep, its probably not. we, Say Anything fans, should know to read into the songs that appear to not have any other meaning at all. So, with that said, I think that this song is about a hard-ass break up where the chick just couldnt let go of him. she goes through the hassle of buying his band their own apartment, then she takes to threatening him, which, like most would probably agree, drove him nuts (no, not crazy-house nuts). from there he just kept on relating her to dead skin because all she is [is] itchy and bothersome. |

| Say Anything – Baby Girl, I'm a Blur Lyrics | 17 years ago |

| Say Anything – The Writhing South Lyrics | 17 years ago |
im not convinced by the idea of the music industry. in lots of music, the meaning is blatant. i think this may just be one of those times; though he is very well known for his political views and shit with that, he is also very infatuated with sex or anything sexual. its just obvious, guys, that its sexual. |
| Say Anything – Slowly, Through a Vector Lyrics | 17 years ago |
okay, i think this song is like, how leeko518 said, very much about government stuff. and contrary to what thehappyhornist said, who obviously listens for sheer entertainment, Max Bemis said that most of his music is very very politically oriented. He uses symbolism and so on to get his point across. right on, leeko. |
