| Katy Perry – Who Am I Living For? Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I'm glad you touched on this theory, Riffel. Most who have studied this theory believe that there are a select group of (12 or 13) families referred to as the Illuminati/shadow government. They are so high up and hidden in the shadows, so to speak, that most people are unaware of just how powerful they are; therefore, one cannot become a member of the Illuminati but can "sell their soul"–whether literally or figuratively is unknown–in order to attain fame and fortune. More or less, those who do aren't actually powerful in any way. They just act as puppets selling the agenda of the shad. govt. to the masses of people who look up to them and often mimic their actions, thus making what should be considered inappropriate or sick (all-consuming sexuality, mind control, violence, a military state, transhumanism) thinly veiled enough for the unaware general public to think these things are normal and good. This may not make any sense, but hopefully it does. If anybody's interested in learning more about this kind of stuff, check out http://vigilantcitizen.com/. Anyway, it's been speculated many times that Katy Perry is among the ranks of controlled puppets, and I think this song really makes a statement about how it feels to be in that position, as it's not a pleasant life these artists live. They basically trade their personal rights to choice in most situations (and possibly way more) and peace of mind for popularity and riches. "Heavy is the head that wears the crown; don't let the greatness get you down." Her head is heavy with burden and possibly otherwordly evils because she is in such a high position, but she's told/believes to keep her head up. It's like they think they're in some awesome position doing something good, but it's not at all. ...Okay, I'm done rambling. |

when i'm lost without a word to say when i'm not the most intriguing, will you stay? when i've called just to hear you say hi will you find me too needy and walk away? -questions of insecurity, her just hoping that the one she's with will love her even when she's not "the most intriguing" and hoping he won't ever be put off with her by being "too needy." and I know these are silly questions to ask you 'cause you've proven to love me far beyond my faults -her aknowledging that she does not need to feel insecure or worried because he has loved her through everything, despite everything, and because of everything ("you've proven to love me far beyond my faults" and I'll hold on to every conversation if it could be our last -she cherishes every single conversation they have as if it could be the last time they would speak. kind of self-explanatory. when you're not breathing I beg for one more breath with you when you're silent, I hang on to every word -some more of the above; she loves him so much she would do anything just to take one more breath being with him; she loves even his silence and embraces every moment of it. and there are no regrets with this love -self-explanatory. she regrets nothing with him, she loves him completely. rewind to any moment you like sit back remember, I will always sit back with you -she loves reminiscing with him of all the times they've had together. oh how cool you wished to be, we were both so nervous but at peace at the same time knowing this was right the time I moved in closely for what you weren't expecting -this might be from a personal experience of hers, but i'm sure most people have some similar experience, esp for doing things with your significant other for the first time, whether that be sex or something less. she remembers being nervous but also secure in the knowledge that they were doing the right thing. think on this, but don't miss don't long for the past, long for what comes next -i love these lyrics so much. so often my boyfriend and i get caught up in reminiscing about great times we've had in the past, but ultimately we always end up looking forward to our future together, because as amazing as our past memories are, the future is going to be even moreso... come away with life, come away with love with something better -that's what you get from relationships like the one she sings of, and the one i'm in. though i'm not "coming away" from it, i'm staying in it. (: i love this song so much--definitely my favorite song by them, beautiful in every way. and it expresses how i feel about my boyfriend. <3 |

This song reminds people of Romeo and Juliet, because the phrase "star-crossed lovers" originated FROM Shakespeare's tragedy, Romeo and Juliet. It is an absolutely beautiful song, and reminds me of my love. Here are the real lyrics (some of these are incorrect, though almost right): Star crossed lovers They say we're not meant to be 'Cause the stars in the sky, and the fashion that they are aligned. I say if the futures been drawn out there's no point in living. I wont give up my love so that fate can have its way. If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven. Star crossed lovers, we do what we want to. Some learn the hard way, We all learn through consequence. I say if the futures been drawn out then nobody’s living. I won't give you up love, so fate can have its way. Its way. If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven. Is it over? (The stars keep this fire from burning on) Is it over? (Are you saying that you’d really listen?) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire) Is it over? (The stars keep this fire) If the stars say that you couldn’t love me, Are you telling me that you would listen? If the words make their way from your mouth, Don’t ask my permission, All is forgiven. If the stars say that you can not love. (The stars keep this fire from burning on) If the stars say that you can not love me. |

'Cause you're perfect Just the way you were made And I wouldn't want you any other way. -Pretty self-explanatory, no hidden meanings that I can uncover. Just a boy telling the girl that she's perfect in his eyes and he loves her the exact way that she is. Those boys will lie to you And you won't believe I wouldn't want you any other way. -Maybe because of her previous negative experiences with guys who've lied their way into relationships with her, she won't believe that this one is being honest, though he is. It doesn't say more about this though, so maybe I've just mis-heard/read (if I remember correctly, that's what it reads in the booklet with the cd) and it really does say "BUT you won't believe. I wouldn't want you any other way." Anyway, like I said, this is my ultimate favorite song and is closely associated with some of my most beautiful memories, so I hope my analysis of it was pretty dead-on and provided some new insight to those of you who read it. ANYWAY! I forgot to include the chorus in my comment above, so here it is: And our bodies talk, Even if we don't want to, But your eyes say that you want to, Like right now. -This could either be taken innocently, as in body language in general (movements, gestures, facial expressions, glances, etc.) or slightly less-innocent, as in the body physically expressing love for a person in whatever way the persons involved see fit (could be small things like kissing or bigger things like sex). This statement says that sometimes our bodies can better express what we're feeling or thinking than our words can. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, basically. So if that's true, And you want someone to talk to, Well I will be right here Listening for you. -Again, this could be taken in an innocent way- that the boy will always be there for the girl to talk to, that no matter what, he will always listen to her. OR it can be taken, again, in the less-innocent way- the metaphoric way- that if the girl really wants to "talk" (physically express her thoughts/emotions), that he will be right there "listening" for her (right there to reciprocate whatever she's willing to do). |

This is my absolute favorite song in the world. I'm not sure if it's the instrumentals- how melodic and original they are, or the vocals- just his amazing voice in general, or the lyrics- which are beautiful and expressive in very non-cliche ways, but I'm thinking it's a mix of all three. Here's my analysis of the song: You put on your makeup just right For something, and I guess That you accidentally fell into that dress. -I agree with jbandy in that he is obviously stating how beautiful she is, but I don't think it is necessarily for a dance. It could just be for a date, or even an average day, which in my opinion makes the statement even sweeter. You'll show up on every radar-screen tonight And my baby, with the echo strength And rejection circuitry, -Everybody will be aware of her beauty, but she won't let the others' attention take away from her feelings for him. So gracefully unaware that she Is the brightest boy this girl has ever seen. -Self-explanatory, and one of the most simple, but creative ways I've ever heard that feeling of "you're the best person I've ever known, etc" put into words. She explained to me her whole story, How she was stole in the desert by the hands of forty theives And then released, 'cause even theives believe That if you find love, you've gotta set it free. -For whatever reason, every time I listen to this song, I've always pictured that stanza literally, which in retrospect seems really stupid. SO after reading these comments, I agree with jbandy about how she's been with other guys before who "stole" her love wrongfully, but they let her go on with life when they realized what they were doing...or something like that. Honestly, I'm not so sure that she Thinks I'm being the man that I deserve to be. -He's in doubt of her feelings for him. So gracefully unaware that he Is the brightest boy this girl has ever seen. -Possibly my favorite lyrics of all time- this is exactly how I feel about the man I'm with now. And though jbandy got the "she loves him" statement right, I think this couplet of lyrics is said from the girl's point of view rather than the main speaker in the song. Sort of like an aside to the listener, that the main speaker is, well, gracefully unaware that he is the brightest boy that she has ever seen. --ughh, I'll have to finish this later. Sorry! /: |
