I've listened to this song intently, mainly because of what I think is misinterpretation. This album is about Kendrick escaping Compton and the demons infesting his life. Alcohol is one of them. As seen clearly on the album cover, he was in a home where alcohol was abused, but it also spilled into his teenage life. This song is about how Kendrick tried not to be influenced by the peer pressure of drinking at parties, succumbed, but never gave into addiction or abuse of alcohol like many of his peers and family. Notice during the song when he sings "First you get a swimming pool full of liquor, then you dieeeeeeeeeeeeeeee-ve in it" Kendrick wants you to hear the stress on 'die,' as if you drink too much you may have alcohol poisoning, in addition to drinking to a figurative level of a pool. At the end, the skit about the shooting is the aftermath of a night drinking and what can happen with short sighted thinking. They go to shoot someone and then one of the brothers in the skit dies, showing how the evils of alcoholism can lead to the evils of murder. |

this song has no meaning, for a song with meaning would insist that this song can convey an important message or relate with listeners. This covers neither. It's definitely 'here on my own' Krzsiek this song to me means that he has to move on, even if that means not talking for a period of time, but don't disappear while he's gone because he is so exhausted with the amount of energy he's put into the relationship. He is assuring everything will be alright after the dust settles, even though both parties may not be over it. |

This song means a lot to me, especially considering the context of this song/album is practically identical to my own personal experiences This song is generally about the memories of a relationship that were seemed so incredible, led by the person who made you happiest in life, but you realize that it's now over and you can't help but think about what should have been and how it should have never ended so abruptly. 'I miss you on certain days' Strong statement that basically means, I miss you when I don't think about how you ended a relationship that should have lasted longer |
