this song has been in my music library since january of 2004 because of assemble the empire and my compulsion to own entire albums. i just listened to it for the first time 5 minutes ago. i feel so deceived by myself for not listening to it seven years ago. it's that classic rarity; five short minutes of music that can alter an entire lifetime worth of experiences in the most powerful way.

not one comment yet? and this song came out in 2008. i probably sound like a dreadful indie hipster worrying about what others think or don't seem to think about this song, but really? not one person has said anything about this brilliant little ballad, and hundreds of people have commented on certain pop songs and hip hop anthems that barely qualify as songs...well fuck it, im done complaining and i guess no one will read this anyway, so im going to get off the internet now and try to forget about this whole thing, rant's over. |

this is so beautiful... in terms of artistic composition, negative space is the void areas that the figure(positive space) are suspended in. so the title literally means his lonesome fall from the top of a building, suspended in the moment of his peaceful journey to the fatal impact with the concrete below.

agree to disagree. i wasn't expecting another plush. i don't think this song is a successful move forward. it reminds me of pearl jam's the fixer. it's contrived, overly polished, and it lacks the ingenuity present in their singles off previous albums.

that's incredibly creative, right?

i really like the line 'reincarnate, return the same'. maybe an endless cycle of mediocrity or some contrived routine.
the line about the best times having finally arrived strikes me as interesting too. he sounds as though he had long waited for them, and by time the supposed best days of his life came to light, he realized he had already become too indifferent to his situations to even care. it wasn't all it was chalked up to be, but he seems to feel a bit of relief in the understanding. |

wow. what a stupid fucking take on a great song. have you ever read up on history. jesus didn't actually exist. his character just mirrored saviors from older texts. in fact, the entire fucking bible just plagiarized ideas from the archetypes that proceeded it. every religious institution is based on the same core elements, and they were all created to incorrectly explain the unexplainable and to manipulate the masses.
maybe believing in all that christian bullshit makes your life seem more meaningful, but eventually you have to grow up. when you die, there's a good chance nothing fucking happens. oh by the way, santa isn't real either. |
