| Relient K – Must Have Done Something Right Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Lillisa, Firstly, foul language is sin: "But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, amlice, slander, and filthy language from you lips" - Colossians 3:8. I think that's pretty clear; I'm sure you'll agree that swearing is today's "filthy language". And it is a direct instruction to not swear. Secondly, yes, God will forgive you, if you are actually sorry for what you did. Just because Christ died for us doesn't mean we can now go and sin as much as we want; we really should stop sinning and instead follow a holy lifestyle. It's the whole "cheap grace" thing, where we often just abuse God's grace instead of treating it with the respect that we should. Anyway, I originally thought it was just about a girl, but then I thought that it could be about God, but now I'm sure it's about a girl: "We should get jerseys cause we make a good team" "Cause this is going to be, the best thing we’ve ever seen" |

| Falling Up – Arc To Archtilles Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Man these guys write some strange songs... | |
| Falling Up – The Dark Side Of Indoor Track Meets Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Who is Cordelle Truet? And what is this song actually saying? That sometimes when we achieve great things, people get uncomfortable and question it? And what's the reference to euthanasia at the end of the song about? I appreciate that Falling Up is making some outrageous stylistic and lyrical choices, but it gets a bit confusing... | |
| Disciple – Game On Lyrics | 17 years ago |

It definitely sounds like the whole David fighting against the Amalekites' sneak attack, and it's a bit of a theme song for it really. This is clear from the idea of "you mess with my people? My country?", and then he pretty much says bring it. As for the application for us, I think it's a bit like God saying "you mess with my children? You're really asking for it". It shows how God cares for us so deeply, and gets pretty ticked off when someone messes with us, especially Satan. I don't think the emphasis is as much of parallelism between the speaker and us, unless you're a parent, pastor, or some other leadership position where you're caring for people and watching over them, in which case you get angry when people mess with them. Once again, especially when Satan messes with them. |

| Sanctus Real – Everything About You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love this song, so awesome. Best of Sanctus Real that I've heard so far. It's for sure about God. Considering that they're a Christian band, and the line "I can’t fathom all You’ve done for me" is definitely a strong Christian idea, along with saying "Hallelujah", it's quite unquestionable that it's about God. |
|
| Sanctus Real – Eloquent Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Yeah, I agree with that idea, but I'd say that someone is God, as this is a Christian band who very often sings about God. | |
| Sanctus Real – I'm Not Alright Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
it's for sure about God, as the whole "Burn away the pride/Bring me to my weakness" idea is a very prevalent Christian idea. For me, it's more like a confession. I disagree with the idea that we're constantly not alright, because that's really pessimistic. It'd be saying that God's never pleased with us, and even if we're in a moment of heartfelt worship of Him, it's still not alright. I think that we're not alright when we've sinned and haven't confessed it, or when we haven't been focusing on God, or perhaps when we've gone through hard times, like a death or something. But when we are focusing on God and confessing all our sins before Him, we are alright. In fact, I'd dare to say we're doing something good and righteous, which is pleasing to Him. |

| Family Force 5 – Replace Me Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love this song, it's just what I need to hear/sing when I'm feeling down. Definitely one of their best, most God-focused songs that I've heard. I also prefer the more rockish influence in the music style. And yeah, it's pretty much about giving it all to God, and letting Him do what He wants with your life. It's also about how God is the answer to our problems, and that when your heart is feeling down (My Batteries died sometime ago/Gotta heart shaped box where they must go), God will fix it. Lastly, it says that God's will for our lives, and His impact/changes on our lives are all great things, and satisfy the hunger of our souls. Quite a deep song actually... |

| Disciple – backstabber Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
It's obviously about someone who betrayed the singer, but who is it? And the only other thing I'm sure of is that there seems to be a realization of some sort. But what is the line "jezebel couldn't do much better"? How does that make any sense?! By the way, these lyrics are incorrect. |

| Skillet – My Obsession Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Yeah, it's definitely about God. A couple pieces of evidence for this are: "kiss your feet" - a strong Christian motif "For just a word from For just a touch from you" - notice how a "word" comes first, which isn't that special in a relationship with someone, but with God, it's amazing "You go and I will follow" - an idea which is far more common in a relationship with God than that with a girlfriend/boyfriend The fool thing is a bit confusing, but I like biroismyhero's explanation. Still takes a bit to get your head around... |

| Bebo Norman – Try Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's basically about his love for a girl. Yup. | |
| Bebo Norman – Standing in Your Silence Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I can't figure if this song is about God or a girl. The whole image of standing in someone's silence, the admiration of the presence of a being, seems to be about God. Also the whole idea of rescuing from the difficulties of the world. And the idea of him as the grass, and the being as the sun, i.e. complete reliance upon that being, seems to be about God. However, referring to the being as "honey" seems to make it be about a girl, and the "you're mine" idea seems to be about a girl, and also "[taking] it slow"... I don't know, what does everyone else think? |

| Audio Adrenaline – Get Down Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I see the whole God lifting us up thing, but is the focus on us messing up, or God lifting us up? It seems to be more focus on us messing up... | |
| Skillet – Safe with You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
Wow, are you serious? Even the Ardent Worship [Live] one? I love this song, it's awesome! Anyway, it's basically that in this entire world filled with chaos and trouble we can always come to God and be safe with Him. |

| Skillet – Locked In A Cage Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
m333333, I think he's perfectly alright in the head. He just desires for God so much that he goes insane... in a good way. It's really the whole struggle between a life for God or a life of sin. Just like Paul in the book of Romans: "5I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me." That sounds pretty confusing and crazy, but if that's the definition of insane, then I also am insane. It's once again the struggle between following God and being of the world. |

| Skillet – Forsaken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I also don't see the message that we're forgiven by God no matter what, as long as we ask for Him to forgve us. It just seems to be a really negative song... | |
| Skillet – Forsaken Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
This song troubles me. It really seems to be saying that God has forsaken us, but I know that Skillet usually has very good theology (in m opinion at least), and that the Bible says "[God] will never leave you nor forsake you"... Especially: "Yeah, Forsake You break me Forsake, you're breaking me" I don't get it... I don't see how he isn't exactly saying "I'm forsaken by God"... :s Like |

| Skillet – A Little More Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I think it definitely is talking about God and His love, as: "'Cause when you're feeling weak you know I'm strong enough" "I'll stand beside you never leave, through it all" "You can find me You can find me You can find me anywhere Take a look over you shoulder I'll be standing there Standing there" Yeah, definitely. It's got the whole omnipresent aspect of God going there, the perfection, the lovingness of God. You can't really replace that I with a person, as only God can be found anywhere. |

| Skillet – A Little More Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
I love this song, it's so nice... Yeah, as all you guys have said, it's saying love is so awesome and powerful. It also definitely has a big link with God, as He is the ultimate source of love (God is Love, as Edboy said). Basermatt3188, of course we fail. That's not love though, that's our imperfect version of God's love. Love is perfect, just like God is perfect. |
|
| Skillet – Each Other Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| It's quite simple: we need to love each other, which includes trusting and having faith in each other. Often someone breaks our trust, and then we just leave it broken, and are quite unwilling to trust them later on. But if we do love them, then we should be willing to trust them again, even if it may hurt us if they break our trust. | |
