| Ashes Divide – Enemies Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with Geeeoff. Also, should'nt it be "Cut a smile in my face so real it takes some fleeting comfort?" He's got a very unique vocal style and everything, but I can clearly make out the word "real" not "you'll." "So you'll intake some fleeting comfort" makes no sense at all. | |

| Chevelle – This Circus Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Best song on this cd and Chevelle's first legitimate album-finisher. Not that I really dislike One Lonely Visitor, Bend the Bracket, or Saturdays, they just didn't feel like a worthy conclusion to their respective albums. This is the first song that takes all the momentum built up throughout the cd and makes a satisfying conclusion. In a lot of ways this IS their best album yet. | |
| Chevelle – Shameful Metaphors Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think it's about frustration with the limitations of human communication, and how we can't really empathize with each other because of these limits. | |
| Mudvayne – Silenced Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| We are told that we're nothing but a succession of occurences and experiences, mere memories. Not really people. And anyone who says they can alleviate that sense of utter worhtlessness is nominated our savior. Even if we don't have control over our lives, if someone promises TO control, then they've earned our faith. Funny thing is, this has happened so many times throughout history. Have we truly forgotten what it means to be human? | |

| I agree partly with codycurth. My interpretation of this song is someone who is sick and tired of feeling feeble and weak. Sick and tired of everyone else dictating how his life should be, and how he feels emotionally and spiritually numbed because of the constant indoctrination and dehumanization our government imposes upon us. To quote a favorite movie, "We have no great war, no great depression. Our great war is a spiritual war. Our great depression is our lives." Our education system is a sad joke, instead of teaching us valuable things, biased and subjective information is drilled into our heads until we believe it. We're told to think for ourselves, but this means sharing the same universal 'opinion.' Everywhere I go, hollow conversation is being made. Modern religion in America is nothing but another motif for control. Our government is engineering disasters, then stepping in and proclaiming to have all the answers. They've forgotten the important aspects of our system, but apparently so have the American people. We are continually stripped of rights, among other things. I find myself feeling numb, in a world that seems so fake. Sadly, it's all a reality. This song is about someone who's just really fuckign sick of it, this perpetual decline. | |

| Mudvayne – Do What You Do Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I'd like to add a lyrical correction. SM has it as: Just do what you do What you do What you've done to me If I'd of just turned right around and seen it's over Now it's all over What Chad's really saying is: Just do what you do What you do What you've done to me Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over Now it's all over. |

| Marilyn Manson – Disposable Teens Lyrics | 17 years ago |

I'm going to apologize in advance here, but I think most of you are missing perhaps the greatest point that Manson is making with this song. It's about our inheritance, which is a great big nothing. 'I wanna thank you mom, I wanna thank you dad, for bringing this fucking world to a bitter end' He's talking about how the baby boomer generation has taken a giant shit on America, and how they expect the current generation to clean it up. A number of our country's current problems are in the hands of the baby boomers. This is the world we've inherited, a cess pool. It's a big thank you to all the previous generation that in retrospect only seemed to contribute to the mess, it says 'thanks for making everything even more meaningless.' He's talking about how all the values and themes we have in our lives are tainted and superficial. |
