Do What You Do Lyrics
Lips bleed from the rings
All these little bruises
The little things, that provoke the segregation
Lead the separation
Cage and clip the wings
Little noises, the little screams,
That stop the operation
Conscious amputation
Just do what you do
What you do
What you did to me
Now I'm stuck in between your rock and nowhere
With nothing
With no one
Just do what you do
What you do
What you've done to me
Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over
Now it's all over.
Like a heart that's lost its beat
A little boy, that softly weeps
Overwhelmed with emotion
Views burns through explosion
Lost the forest through the trees
Little whispers, the little dreams,
That sparked the recollection
Constant suffocation
Just do what you do
What you do
What you did to me
Now I'm stuck in between your rock and nowhere
With nothing
With no one
Just do what you do
What you do
What you've done to me
Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over
Now it's all over.
I can feel my life is changing
(Changing)
I can feel my heart is jaded
(Jaded)
Left the sticks
Left the stones
Words don't hurt
Mend the bones
I can feel my life is changing
[*Guitar Solo*]
Just do what you do
What you do
What you did to me
Now I'm stuck in between your rock and nowhere
With nothing
With no one
Just do what you do
What you do
What you've done to me
Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over
Now it's all over.
Erase the past and leave the pain
Cleanse the wounds and forget the name
Lost the will
Ran far away
So it's all over
Spread the ash and fill the grave
Lost the tongue and make my way
Do what you do and go away
Now it's all over.

"Lips bleed from the rings, All these little bruises, The little things, that provoke the segregation, Lead the separation"
Bleeding and bruising is signs of hurt and abuse. When this occurs its provkes differences between them and leads to them wanting to separate. This could be mental or physical anguish.
"Just do what you do, What you do, What you did to me" Just continue on doing what you always do to others.
"Now I'm stuck in between your rock and nowhere, With nothing, With no one" He's been dumped and feels in an awkward situation.
"Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over, Now it's all over." In effect stating "you're dead to me".
"Like a heart that's lost its beat, A little boy, that softly weeps. "Overwhelmed with emotion, Views burns through explosion" He's now feeling lonely and upset.
"That sparked the recollection, Constant suffocation" and is now reminded of what things used to be like, and feels like he is constantly choked.
"I can feel my life is changing, I can feel my heart is jaded Left the sticks, Left the stones, Words don't hurt, Mend the bones I can feel my life is changing" After all is said and done he is getting on with life. Sticks and stones won't break his bones, word's won't hurt him.
"Erase the past and leave the pain, Cleanse the wounds and forget the name Lost the will, Ran far away" Leave everything, move on, and forget the past.
IN SUMMARY: Someone has been in a relationship where the other party has caused constant fights and created differences between them have lead to the other party calling things off.
He's angry and having a shot back telling her she'll do the same thing to someone else.
Theres a period of reflection about what has been lost from the relationship, and finally the realisation all is not lost, and getting on with his life.
now i might be wrong but i think that its about the government. the fact that he talks about segregation and seperationn - thats where this countrys headed. i believe the album was titled "The New Game" because of the election and basically what moron was going to have their fun and play their little game with us.
The song is very clearly about MK Ultra and Monarch Programming, a big part of the big music industry. He's specifically talking about the trauma based mind control that causes personality splitting, a means of control. He even talks about the trigger words used to spark these different personalities.
Many of their songs are about the government and MK Ultra and one of their music videos even has clear (dramatized) footage of interspecies cloning along with those same Monarch butterflies and moths you see in so many of their other videos.
@david10636 Ha! I just looked up the music video to this and it's the one I was talking about. Full of lab chemistry (how they clone), him in a cage wearing fear looking like a monster (interspecies abomination), that Monarch butterfly, pictures of them hanging up on x-rays and ID files (I'll let you figure that out), and other stuff I'm not going into.

Sounds like a relationship that went bad, or never even started but the person got turned down and he is pissed off and is saying it dont hurt and how he is changing and just dont care and wants to erase the past cause its over.
I'd like to add a lyrical correction.
SM has it as: Just do what you do What you do What you've done to me If I'd of just turned right around and seen it's over Now it's all over
What Chad's really saying is: Just do what you do What you do What you've done to me Draw the chalk line around the scene it's over Now it's all over.
Oooh
It's a song about a simple sentiment
''I'm fucked, You fucked me over, I'm leaving''
Not difficult
Correction adds an entire new meaning, huh? The song is great btw, I'm lloking forward to this album.
If you can't accept the new Mudvayne then you really aren't too big of a fan.
The song most likely is about how two people were in a relationship and just ended by the little things that happened/didn't happen between them.
Then one just drops the act and says it's over, leaving the other one alone to cope with the loss...or something I don't know. Suggestions?
Amazing song, I connect with it all the way and mitch01 gave an awesome review, I fully agree!
Like a heart that's lost its beat A little boy, that softly weeps Overwhelmed with emotion Views burns through explosion
Should be
Like a heart that's lost its beat A little boy, that softly weeps Overwhelmed with emotion Fuse burns to explosion
p.s. to Ceejinator9999 sorry for posting this as a reply twice rookie mistake but I don't agree with your feelings on "The New Game" did you know they made the album not long after "Lost and Found" but sat on it for like two and a half years
