Having lived in a small town in scotland i understand this song, it's not deep, it's about looking at the older generation of the town/city, and listening to them squash your dreams without meaning, by telling you not to aim high, literally just holding you hostage in the town your in, very typical old british attitude of not aiming high therefore not failing. This song is like a rebelling against that attiude. |

I think the question they ask here, What does this song mean to you?, is quite appropriate, To me this song, is about a young couple seperated probably against their own will by possibly parents or college, and when they meet up, they are so involved with each other that they want their time to be a secret because they don't want to share it with anyone else. Thats only the way I view it because it's mine and my ex boyfriends song, and although everyone knew about our relationship, that was how we would spend our time, just alone with each other, making the most of every second we had, usually not telling anyone where we were. So you know first love and the distances you will go to make it work? |
