Wakey!Wakey! – War Sweater Lyrics 16 years ago
No, I do agree with that. I think it's aimed at someone using it as something to hide behind, like how people put up walls to keep people from finding out what they're really like. Or in this case, what their morality actually stands for behind it.

I'd like to add to sharondoyle37's armor interpretation:

I agree, but I see it even more specifically to mean a shirt of mail armor (good defense against slashes, but often pierced by a strong enough blow). Religion may also stand for morality in this case, which would make sense with the two put together; little things here and there may not affect one's integrity much, but a single harsh blow easily challenges it.

Fall Out Boy – Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows) Lyrics 16 years ago
To MattyD:

The line clearly begins with, 'he said,' which makes it pretty clear that it's a reference to something else.

Most of the things that you would call 'stolen' are generally inspired by, and in the artist's heart of hearts, an homage to the artist of which it's driven.

Personally, I originally didn't like the music style. Once the lyrics drew me in, however, they grew on me. They make satiric plays on their own music, while still respecting the premise of the 'pop-punk' genre.

While, yes, the respect should be paid to the original artist to use it something as that line, it is not a stolen work.

I respect all art, whether I like it or not. I guarantee you, these men have a similar stance on it. And with a history of reference in their music to writings of some brilliant artists, (i.e.; Van Gogh, David Bowie, The Police, Nick Hornby, etc.), I would think it difficult to deny that these men have some intellect, and respect for art. Apparently more than you do.

Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly – A Song For... Lyrics 17 years ago
hrrm, I thought that first line was, "and I've got a myspace that says."
it seemed to make more sense, too. I don't know though.

huh.
I didn't notice it on here before, but I always thought in the first verse, the line was, "these words were not meant to induce acts of likewise behavior," not "these words will lament you and do sorts of likewise behavior."
maybe it's just me.

this song is pretty easy to decipher, but I'll do it anyway. :]
there are a few ways to take it, but it makes more sense to analyze it through my own personal relation to the lyrics.

someday I fear I will be rescued from the boredom -
We know Justin Pierre has suffered from depression, as well as ADD/ADHD (not sure which), addiction, some OCD, etc. From experience, I know that depression, especially with additional psychological illnesses, becomes addictive in a way. It becomes a constant. Constance is uninteresting and boring, but it's still a 'sure thing.' Being rescued would simply be coming out of a depression for or because of someone or something.

with lack of memory I'll fail to question why -
When moving past a state of depression, I feel like the time during the matter becomes blurred, and it becomes difficult, irrelevant even, to recall it.

with perfect sound you bring me down -
his constant is being washed away by words of hope.

I think I'll stop there, even though it's only a few lines in; I'd say the rest is a little more literal, and easier to figure out.

it is inspired by, not based on, the novel.
