Wind me up! I kinda thought that we were meant To be I really thought that you were the one For me Hell I'm living in Well I live in it I love in it Freedom's not giving it So I'm takin' |

| Animal Collective – Lion in a Coma Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
oh i also forgot to mention that it sounds like music is the singer's release of this lion, as music is often cathartic: "is there no reason it can't be the way it was musically my three best friends so casually just letting go so joyfully?" my boyfriend is very bipolar and very aggressive and he fights himself constantly to try to stay in control and stay stable, and suppressing that part of him makes him really anxious because its so much energy that he's trying to deny in himself. sometimes he can't get a handle of it and he gets really violent. downers and sex help him release his destructive tension, and making music also helps him stay in control, any type of release like that. I know my boyfriend feels oppressed by himself for keeping his own lion in a coma |

I DEFINITELY don't think this is about a person in an actual coma.... i personally think the "lion in a coma" is some sort of destructive/powerful/aggressive, lion-like force that the singer tries to suppress within himself. the suppression of the "lion" in himself makes him anxious like when a person with ADD tries to sit still: "my nervous tick has capped a lip, my cheeks are chewed down to the bit." this pent-up aggression, also referred to as "wilderness," is "up in [his] head" and could be released sexually by "taking the wilderness out of [his] clothes and into [his] bedroom." it almost sounds like a bipolar disorder that the singer is trying to keep under control, as expressed in that WHOLE unsure stanza where the singer sounds like he's fighting with himself and "feels fine" only "sometimes [when] the sun will shine." the entire stanza sounds like fighting with oneself over a possible bipolarity: "sometimes the sun will shine yes i am just feelin' fine sometimes i'm not aware where I am or what i care sometimes i'm well-to-do but I don't know what to do sometimes i don't agree with my thoughts on being free" though bipolar, the singer desperately wants his very unstable good feelings to stay with him ("please don't leave me things that feel good") the agression in him, the "lion in a coma" wants to be expressed and is fighting to get out and "use his aching bones." |

| Animal Collective – Also Frightened Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song is really hard to analyze haha so i'm just going to say flat out that i think it's about being afraid of death, personally. i think the imagery in the song is death-related, like "ghosts came crowding around" represents being taken by death, etc. and "will it be just like i'm dreaming" is asking the question, will death be just like a dream? so the singer asks, are you as scared of this as i am? "are you also frightened" of death? |

| Björk – Cocoon Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
definitely about sex, duh, but NOT about lust. it's more like making love. in short, the song is about being in love and sharing that intimacy together, and Bjork is overcome with how blissful and beautiful it is ("who would have known a beauty this immense," etc) and it seems completely perfect. And I STRONGLY disagree with BjorkySpearzer in that the line "after sharing my core would stay going nowhere" has anything at all to do with loneliness. it definitely means JUST the opposite. after exposing herself and being completely vulnerable with this boy (yes, in a sexual context but maybe even MORE so in an emotional one), the boy is surprisingly "possessed with a magical sensitivity" and stays ("going nowhere" as in not leaving her, not going anywhere) with her. Who would have known? DEFINITELY not a song about betrayal or loneliness or anything of the sort. |

| Calvin Harris – Electro Man Lyrics | 17 years ago |

these aren't all the lyrics. these are: "Electro man Electronic man Electro man Electronic woman I've been outside wearing my device I came back in wearing the same device As you (Repeat entire beginning x3) You don't believe me but I would go anywhere with you I would go anywhere with you, uh huh I would go anywhere with you Yeah I would go anywhere with you (Repeat x2) |

| The Spinto Band – Trust Vs. Mistrust Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| its pretty much indisputable that the Spinto Band had Erikson's Stages of Emotional Development in mind with this song, but all music is up for interpretation. | |
| The Spinto Band – Trust Vs. Mistrust Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
in my opinion, this song is undoubtedly linked to childhood development, no question. I immediately recognized the song title as Erikson's first stage of Emotional Development, which is explicitly called "Trust vs. Mistrust" there are also nuances in the song that allude infancy (read another story/golden books/crying/time for a feeding/how the singer's scream sounds like the wails of a baby). however, i am definitely not asserting that the entire song is about infancy...the Spinto Band is using the delicate, clingy emotional state of an infant during its trust-developing stage of life as a metaphor for the vulnerability one feels in a relationship and the separation anxiety that comes with...well, separation. just as an infant cries when his/her mother has gone away because he/she misses her touch, this lover yearns for his beloved. |

im surprised there aren't more comments on one of Calvin Harris's most epic songs! as recluctant as i am to say it, this song DOES seem like its about ecstasy! and possibly a random hookup on ecstasy! |

| Datarock – Laurie Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song makes me feel really safe for some reason. i can't really fathom what its about, but i like that. i don't think it's "Lou Reed" though. i could totally be wrong but i assume he's just saying "Laurie" with the emphasis on a weird place in the name, because the title of the song IS called Laurie. |

| Melpo Mene – I Adore You Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this song makes me cry because it reminds me about this boy i used to know... its about being in love of course, a love that feels like a daydream. but the singer and his love get separated for no particular reason, and he thinks (hopes) that he and his love could reunite in the future. what i love about this song is that i think it sounds like the singer acknowledges that their reunion is also just a daydream, a fantasy. but he loves her and can barely stand the idea he won't find her again...contemplating suicide. |

| The White Stripes – The Denial Twist Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
first of all, shaddix wrote out the whole song because he left his commentary by each line in parenthesis. second of all, i completely agree with sngmngs. its shocking that people aren't getting that this song is obviously Jack's commentary on his experiences with a cheating girlfriend. it's very blatant, especially in the line "where do you think she goes," which refers to calling all his friends to discover who they think the other man is. he knew all along that she was cheating on him but he had always denied it, and he advises other men to not be as blind as he was and to not let the girl have the upper hand |
