Set Your Goals – An Old Book Misread Lyrics 15 years ago
brockknowsbest, I don't think they're really calling God himself organized crime.
Just the Christian's interpretation of what God is and what he stands for, a God that's technically of their own creation.
The organized crime I think they're referring to is the killing of people in the name of God, such as the Crusades, and more recently any hate crimes towards people that don't practice Christianity. Both of these are things I'm thoroughly against and are some of the reasons I can't bring myself to follow Christianity, so I get where the lyricist is coming from.

Saves the Day – Sell My Old Clothes, I'm Off to Heaven Lyrics 16 years ago
First off, such a great song. The lyrics, music, vocals, everything. Saves the Day is such a good band..actually that's an understatement.

I found it interesting to hear him say blue eyes can get boring. I have brown eyes, and I always thought more people found them boring and that people generally liked blue eyes more. I don't know, maybe that theory is true despite what Chris wrote or maybe it's completely false and was never true to begin with.
ANYWAYS, I myself love both eye colors, they're my two favorites and I could never choose one over the other. None of what I just wrote is important to the meaning of the song, I just found it interesting, don't mind me.

I think it's pretty clear that this song is about wanting to be with someone that doesn't quite feel the same way, or maybe it's just not possible for them to be together.
This song deals with rejection - "I don't get it why you won't return my calls"
Longing - "I'll give you a thousand reasons that tonight you should grant me this one wish" and all of the other lines about wanting to spend time with this person.
and from the line "What he's got that I don't have?" I sense jealousy, since when someone you want wants to be with another person, you can't help but feel jealous of the person they want.
This song is so easy for people to relate to, I think everyone has felt the things I mentioned above at some point in their lives. They did a wonderful job with this, one of my favorites by Saves the Day.

Cobra Starship – The Scene Is Dead; Long Live the Scene Lyrics 16 years ago
Since nobody seems to get the real meaning of the song...
To my knowledge this is NOT about a girl like some people thought.
I could be wrong, maybe this song has more than one meaning, but if it has anything to do with a girl, that is not the main meaning or the most important one.

On absolutepunk.net, there is a user named anamericangod. From what I've noticed during my time on that site he's fairly popular on the site and very opinionated, especially when it comes to music.
He wrote a blog called "The Scene is Dead. Long Live the Scene" where he gives his opinions on the current bands and how they care more about their image than the music they make, and how a lot of music these days lacks sincerity and integrity because many of these bands mostly care about making money. You can bet that Cobra Starship is one of those bands he's referring to (just read the blog and you'll see what I mean).

After Gabe Saporta helped the Millionaires get a deal with decaydance that says they'll release their next album (contrary to popular belief they were never actually signed to the label), Joe (aka anamericangod) called Gabe Saporta out on this in one of Gabe's tumblr posts, he ended his comment with "but hey, it's just rock 'n roll, right?". Gabe responded to this, and obviously read Joe's blog because he ended his response with "but hey, the scene is dead, right?"

This song is definitely in response to Joe's blog.
example: "it's all right
'Cause I got a pretty face
I guess that I can sing all right"
and the title is also pretty good evidence.

I should also add that Joe makes some really good points in this blog that I agree with, and considering the fact that cobra starship's new album is absolutely terrible in my opinion and the opinion of many others, you cobra fans might want to check out his blog. Just google the scene is dead absolutepunk.net and it'll probably come up in your search. Also, I apologize if I got any of the facts wrong and feel free to correct me if I did.
PS. If anyone comments on the irony of my username, I already know I need to change it considering I only like one or two of the bands on Fueled By Ramen's current roster now.

Say Anything – Resounding Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with mitts and hisup, i was confused at first too and those were actually my first thoughts when i tried to understand that line. obviously they are completely different theories, but i think it can be interpreted either way and they both have the right idea. anyways, very good song. a little on the softer side for say anything but i think we all know that max can do no wrong.

Motion City Soundtrack – Everything Is Alright Lyrics 17 years ago
the truth is, no matter how sure we are that this song is about _______, we will never know for sure unless we hear it straight from justin pierre. it seems like a lot of people can relate to this song or know people who can so they assume it's about whatever that person is going through. but i do have a strong feeling that this is about anxiety, because i've heard that justin suffers from it, and because i was diagnosed with it last year and it reminds me of what i went through before i was diagnosed and while i was getting treatment. but it could also be sort of about other things too, like ADD/ADHD or OCD. maybe it's just about mental conditions in general, because they are all pretty similar in a way. paranoia, nervousness, hyperactivity, and irrational fears, all of which are referenced in this song, are all associated with many different mental conditions. anyways, great song..it seems like a lot of people covered what this is about so that's really all i have to add.

Backseat Goodbye – 11:12 Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with musiccxxx that this is about some form of drug abuse. the whole "pretending to play god" probably either means that they realize they're killing themselves (aka doing god's job, in a way) or they think they're going to live through this but everyone else thinks they're going to die, so they aren't really playing god it just looks like it (from their point of view)
i dunno that's just what i got from those lines.
and "it's a one time thing, i promise. besides, i can quit when i want"
typical words from someone who abuses drugs and doesn't realize that they will get addicted and continue to abuse them.
it's a sad song, to me at least.
and this is so weird, but as i wrote this i looked up at the clock and realized it was 11:12 :| freaky coincidence.
