look, it doesnt mayyer what the artist intended per se. the great thing about music and lyrics in general is that they take on personal meaning and how you hear the song defines your experience. The meaning you find in a song can be totally off from what was intended, but in the end that is what it means to you, that is what you take from the artist, and that in the end is their intention. |

"this is all we've ever known of god, fight with me, let me touch you now"
I think of Jacob wrestling with God, how you want tangeable existance of his prescence when it seems like he is distant and non-existant |

the first part is his idea of what true love is
the second part, i think "well then" gets it. god has to be universal. you are not in control. if your god fits into your head then you control it, and in turn you are your own god |

i think a good bit of this album is sung sarcastically, more tongue in cheek. i think he knows he's messed up, and is kind of making fun of the people and explanations that they come up for him. He's deliberately sounding crazy when he says 'a genious with a headache'. it makes me think of a mad scientist. i think a good bit of this album is him dulling serious issues with sarcasm, which is part of his madness |
