It sounds like she's daring him to break up with her, because she knows that he doesn't want it to be over either. But she's thinking about breaking up with him herself to save face. |

Oh, wow, yeah, I relate to it in that way, too. That's why I was thinking it might be about hers. But it's the kind of song that relates to whatever the listener is going through. |

This song really hits home...and I don't think it has to ALWAYS be about God. It depends on what you're going through. After all, songs are supposed to be relatable. So it could be about God, and about how friends never seem to save you until it's too late. I feel that way for sure. |

| The Fray – How To Save A Life Lyrics

Of course it can mean different things to everyone, but the basic meaning is definitely someone addicted to drugs. I think it has nothing to do with the person dying...a life doesn't have to mean them living, just them living well. Save them from losing a good life. |

| Owl City – Hot Air Balloon Lyrics

This song actually makes me think of playing pretend with kids. You know how they can imagine so much? That's why the cold hot air balloon thing could make sense, because you're not actually flying, you're just pretending. :)
I love this song though. Always makes me happy. |

oh and one more thing "white girl so fine" doesn't refer to a girl who's fine, it refers to cocaine because white girl is a street name for it, and so fine is referring to the fine powder. |

also it makes sense that it's about music because when he says "our veins our cold but we'll never grow old", he's talking about how great music artists aren't forgotten even after they die, not that they died of cocaine or whatever, though that may be what the metaphor is saying. |

yeah it's about music to them being what cocaine is to addicts.
and it's "we all lust to live glamorous". "we all lust to the glamorous" doesn't exactly make much sense, and GCH's lyrics are usually straightforward, so it's most likely "to live". it's also "we'll get higher and higher", from what i hear. |

| Katy Perry – One of the Boys Lyrics

I don't get what she means by "tape these suckers down", or if it's "take these suckers down". I don't get that for some reason.
But I know that by "Lolita" she actually means the Lolita original film based on Nabokov's book, cause she said that in an interview. Love the song! :) |

| The Hush Sound – Lighthouse Lyrics

Greta wrote this on the band's old FAQ about the song: "Lighthouse is an allegory to represent how it feels when one has nowhere to turn for support. I developed images and a narrative to explain how it feels when one is walking from one disaster to find shelter, only to find nothing. I was actually hesitant to release that song on the record since it is such a sad song to me, but fortunately the boys and our producer, Sean, convinced me to release it. Now, I am greatful of their persuasion." |

| The Hush Sound – A Dark Congregation Lyrics
| 16 years ago
|
Greta wrote this as an answer to a question about this song in the band's FAQ: "The irony of that song is that the topic is very somber but the lyrics are laid over a very grooving, upbeat song. One of my best friends died last year and the lyrics were stream of consciousness images from the burial." Hope that clears it up.

I agree with niccy, this sounds more like a "models-with-eating-disorders" song than a celebrities song, especially because if the first line is about rehab, models go to rehab a lot too, so it really does make more sense. (Also because the "you're dying" part makes more sense with that theme, too.) |

I agree with some of the other people who posted but I don't understand what she means by "I've stopped trying to find/Any peace in my mind/'Cause it tangles the wires" and how it fits in with the theme. Someone explain, please? |

| Natalie Imbruglia – Torn Lyrics

For some reason, right after she says, "I don't care, I have no luck", and before "I don't miss it all that much", I think she's going to say, "I don't really give a fuck".
Which would be fitting, anyway. :) |

| Colbie Caillat – One Fine Wire Lyrics

Wow, stage fright? That's completely different from what I was thinking, but I can see how it plays in. It's funny how everyone thinks all songs are about this big thing, like life, love, etc. (I know, because I do, too), and then it turns out to be a small component of life. Like stage fright. Funny. :) |

Oh, wow. Colbie has created such a touching, beautiful, and catchy song while identifying with so many other people's emotions. I can completely relate to this and I'm glad someone finally wrote a good song about this. My Colbie Caillat favourite. |

| Taylor Swift – I'd Lie Lyrics

I'm in love with this verse, for some reason:
He'd never tell you, but he can play guitar
I think he can see through everything but my heart
First thought when I wake up is
My God, he's beautiful
So I put on my make-up and pray for a miracle
I guess it's just very touching. Taylor's surprisingly good for one of those "suddenly famous" teenagers. Really insightful songwriting. This is probably my favourite song by her. |

| Natalie Imbruglia – That Day Lyrics

I think this song is so raw that it has to be interpreted individually to be understood. There's no real, set-in-stone meaning. But I love it. It's very beautiful, and emotional. And I agree with Simplistic, I am in love with the stream-of-consciousness sound she's brought to it, it's very unique. |

Yeah, I hear the last line. I think it's "man", though.
It's a very happy, peaceful song, about letting go of every care in the world for just one day and doing what makes you happy. Something I'd like to do... |

| Alanis Morissette – Versions Of Violence Lyrics

I agree, a completely phemonal song. I think it's about how emotional abuse is overlooked because a, it's not always quite visible, and b, others view as not as harmful, though it can be a lot more painful than physical abuse. |
