Toy Box – Best Friend Lyrics 17 years ago
Oh my gosh...this is totally my favorite Toy Box song! And yes they're friends, but not neccessarilly w/ benefits...he seems totally clueless! and she is jealous of his other interests, but there is nothing indicating any kind of love relationship prior to that.

But I love this song! Those green men things on the vid are super creepy tho. And the psuedo-female things w/ the "hoo. ha. hoo-ha!"'s

Ha! Hilarious! Love the sailors hanging out of the portholes! And being shot out of the smokestacks!

This song always reminds me: "Sailor Suit! Sailor Suit! A riceball alien in a sailor suit!" Classic.

Annie Lennox – Into the West Lyrics 17 years ago
This is seriously one of the most beautiful songs ever written. Many elements of this song can be found scattered throughout the Return of the King, from the melody being featured in the most amazing instrumental arrangement to the imagery being described by Gandalf while talking to Pippin...the words(ish) are in the books too. The melody line is featured various times in the soundtrack, with the high note resounding clearly in the brass...french horn, maybe. It's one of the most beautiful and chilling things I've ever heard. Composer of LOTR music=Howard Shore=Genius.

Hawk Nelson – Fourteen Lyrics 17 years ago
Beautiful song with a simple, clear melody. His voice really makes it wonderful. He does such a great job transitioning between head voice and chest voice, and also going from a clear tone quality, to a rougher, rawer, throatier sound on the verses. It's perfect.

Hawk Nelson – Head On Collision Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is pure brilliance...overlapping melodies, clever lyrics...this song rocks. The end is genius, with multiple melodies going on at once which somehow clash and harmonize at the same time. I love it!

Hawk Nelson – Bring Em Out Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is soo fun! Sorry, but Drake Bell kinda sucked it up, tho. Love the guitar solo in the middle! other fave part was "shake it, shake it up until we break it, it won't stop till we just can't take it" because his gorgeous voice was highlighted perfectly there! Love it! He actually has a surprisingly clear voice, I'm glad! ^-^

Skillet – Those Nights Lyrics 17 years ago
To me...this song means a lot...it's exactly what my friends and I would do when I was younger. They were usually going through much tougher times than me. But it was those nights that formed my identity. I had a lot of pressure on me to be the "perfect" child, and those times helped me to release the pressure. I was always supposed to be "an example" at church and school, but I wasn't really seeing any examples around me. I think those nights made me a better person, because I began to realize that there are times when I should stand up and be an example (or at least try to), but I don't have to pretend to be perfect, because I'm not. My parents, in their hearts they still want me to be perfect, and are constantly disappointed when I'm not, but I've come to realize that if I'm doing my best, then that's more than good enough. By faking perfection, I was being hypocritical and lying to others, and most of all, to myself. I hated myself for it, but at those times, I could release who I really was and discover new things. Yes, we were so young and confused...and we always will be, but now we're better people for it.

Skillet – Falling Inside the Black Lyrics 17 years ago
Honestly, people...we all have our own opinions, don't bash on the opinions of others. And this song has quite a few spiritual allusions. Naturally, the abyss...which is not hell, by the way. And the biggest one being BLACK, in and of itself. Black is always associated with sin, y'know in the Sunday School songs from days of yore? And I quote, "My heart was black w/ sin, until the savior came in" etc. From my point of view, "I traded everything I love for this one thing" is an allusion to The Pearl of Great Price, a parable in which a pearl is used to metaphorically describe God. A merchant recognizes the pearl as being of great value, and so he sells everything he owns in order to buy the pearl, and when he gets it, he is the happiest man you ever did see.

Anyway, this song is how I believe a lot of Christians feel. We can't see God, and sometimes can't feel him. We feel as if he's left or abandoned us and all we see around us is a cold, black night. We feel as if we're falling into a neverending abyss. It's scary. This song is our doubts and fears, and honestly it isn't just Christians that feel this way. No one can ever KNOW for absolutely sure. Everyone has faith in something, be it God, science, the cosmic consciousness, or aliens bent on destroying planet earth...and for each and every person, there are times when we feel like it's all wrong, and we wonder if we're really believing in the right thing. This song doesn't tell us the answer...that's up to us to figure out. We can keep falling or reach out and grab a lifeline. And we all slip every once in awhile and fall again, only to have our beliefs either dashed or renewed. We're all falling.

Skillet – Better Than Drugs Lyrics 17 years ago
In Christianity, God is often compared to drugs...often times our experiences with him give us what we call a "high." I like the comment made about "strength of my life." Psalm 27:1b "The Lord is the strength of my life; Of whom shall I be afraid?" "your love is like wine" is almost a direct quote from Song of Solomon chapter one, about Solomon and his beloved, a passage used to exemplify our relationship with God, as well as what our marital relationships should be like. But I agree that people are cannot truly be the strength of our life, clear our minds, or be our escape from the messed-up world in which we live.

Skillet – Comatose Lyrics 17 years ago
Darkguitarist--- If you think the artist can't be referring to overdosing on God, you are quite wrong. God is often compared to a drug. Skillet's album Comatose has a song called "Better than Drugs" which also compares either God or a person to drugs. Also both of these songs have several spiritual allusions hidden within them. "Oh how I adore you, oh how I thirst for you." The description of people thirsting after God is mentioned innumerable times in the Bible, especially in the Old Testament and more specifically in Isaiah and the Psalms, a notable example being Psalm 42. A line from "Better than Drugs" says "you're better than drugs, your love is like wine." This can be seen as a direct reference to the Song of Solomon 1:2, 1:4, and 4:10, in which Solomon is praising his beloved. So before you say something so generic like "you can't overdose on God," please do a little thinking and research next time! ^-^ THanks!

Anyway, to me this song means a lot, because it reminds me of the everday struggles I have in my relationship with God. It's hard because I can't SEE God, and I can't always feel Him, and so often, I find myself just ignoring Him. But it can't go on like this. I feel like I'm in a place where I can't survive without Him, I need Him all the time...every day, every hour, every minute, I realize it more and more. It's like I'm drowning in the darkness within my own heart, and above the surface, I just barely see a faint, glimmering hope. I try to reach out and touch him--to grab his hand, so I can be pulled to safety--but I'm weighed down and distracted by the frivolous, trivial things that surround me in my everyday life. And when I'm not clinging to Christ, I'm scared, scared that there is no meaning, there is no hope. This song always reminds me that it's all nothing more than a dream, and I need wake up to Him. I feel that maybe, for me, this waking up is either death or realization of His calling for me...the dream must end. And to me God will always be better than any dream.
