Beck – Farewell Ride Lyrics 17 years ago
I never really thought about the drug thing, never really seemed to me something beck would write about. To me it seems that the two white horses for the last farewell ride are like old day funerals, where the hearse was drawn by horses. Then it would be that while some need diamonds, some need love, others need cards, luck or dollar bills lining their clothes...all he needs is death. Chilling song anyways...

Opeth – Den Ständiga Resan Lyrics 17 years ago
Wow no one has commented yet...

Once you translate it, I guess the meaning is pretty straightforward though, about how life is a perpetual journey somewhere...

Opeth – Still Day Beneath The Sun Lyrics 17 years ago
I believe that it's talking about the relationship between the dead and those that love them. You would think it would be the dead who would wait forever, but for the living, the time it takes them to finally die and join their love seems like it lasts an eternity. It's basically about how much harder it is for the living to go on after someone dies that they love.

BTW, because of the spelling of site, It is probably referring to a monument or a headstone.

Wow, pretty creative stuff people have come up with. However, it is obvious that the song is about a monomyth. A monomyth is a greek myth that is about a journey that a main character takes. They've become more popular recently as the basis for many things like the Matrix, Harry Potter and most directly, Star wars.

The reason I say this is because most of the parts of a monomyth are directly quoted in the song. I'm not going to list them all, but if you look up monomyth, you'll see that I'm not lying.

The hero of the gods- a myth revolves around a hero, often chosen by gods

The call to adventure- not said here, but in Capillarian Crest, I think? Self explanitory.

The crossing of the threshold- a hero goes to a different place/world

The belly of the whale- a hero is defeated, trapped caught, and ultimately transforms and matures into something mature, someone said something about Jonah, that is a classic example.

Refusal of return- a hero refuses to return to the normal world from the new one he has found.

I believe that they are setting up the entire album as a myth-like story about a guy climbing up blood mountain to deliver the crystal skull to the top.

Btw, as a side note, if you watch their "making of" videos, they name their songs about what they think the song overall sounds like, so there isn't anything specifically about a werewolf in the album. They named it because they believed the music sounded like a wolf breaking out and causing mayhem everywhere...

Minus the Bear – Part 2 Lyrics 17 years ago
I don't really see a connection with Dr. L'Ling, except that the song is called Part 2 and comes after L'Ling. The lyrics don't point to anything I can see as being connected to it...they're in Japan, and that's about it here...totally different subject than L'Ling in my opinion.

Minus the Bear – Throwin' Shapes Lyrics 17 years ago
I honestly think its about going with someone to the beach to watch a storm come in. I think "she" refers to the storm, as in "we'll watch her roll in from the south." A lot of the song talks about things that could be about storms; "She'll wrap her sheets around us"- sheets of rain, maybe?, "Forget the sun."-self explanitory.

Can't say anything about the last line, though...
