It could have been about God even though he doesn't change your life cause you did something right. But sometimes as Christians (especially new ones) you think that you had to do something to deserve the amazing love God gives. It's like getting to that place where you realize how awesome God's love is that you had to have done something right. But the song doesnt end with him saying that yeah he did do something right. It's just left out in the open. |

I don't think it's about an ex per say. I think it's about someone she was really close to dating. Like they were friends before and now in the talking stage but something went wrong. Like she never outright admitted that she wanted to be with him. Hence the pre-chorus But I never told you What I should have said No I never told you I just held it in Maybe she had commitment issues and now that he's decided to move on, is when she realized her mistake. |

I think it's closer to what Jemmargh said. I think it's about a person who wants to change the world so bad. They every prayer, they donate time, money and effort to the hopeless. And they do for a while but then they start to think that it's all about them. And they lose sight of God's hand in all of it. The person forgets that it's about God changing the world, not them. And then when things start to fall apart that's when they fall to their knees and are like "God it's yours I'm just your servant. Do YOUR will through me." I love how loving the song portrays God. Especially in this stanza: I love the way that your heart breaks With every injustice and deadly fates Praying it all will be new And living like it all depends on you It's like God just saying, "I love that you want to change the world. It makes me so happy. But son/daughter you need my help. You can't do this on your own." It's just amazing |

I think my favorite part of the song is: The bottom's gonna drop out from under our feet I'll catch you, I'll catch you When people say things that bring you to your knees, I'll catch you. The time is gonna come when you're so mad you could cry but I'll hold you through the night until you smile just because when you read it, it seems like such a guy thing to sing. Like most people can't picture a girl holding a guy while he cried but I love the image. It's really letting the guy know that she loves him. So much that he can let himself go with her and that she could be his female knight in shining armor. |

I love this song. It really emphasizes the good parts of her voice. I agree that it's self explanatory but I'm gonna explain anyway. It's just about a girl who is so into a guy but he has trust issues. Like he doesn't want to take it the next step and she's saying don't be afraid to jump and take a leap of faith because she'll be there to catch him. Like don't be afraid to take that big step into the relationship. I'm currently going through something like this. The guy I like won't really open up anymore and I feel like we're going in that direction. Thank you once again Taylor for putting emotions into a song lol. |

This song reminds me of me so much. Like when I try to turn away from God, it just...never works. I always feel like I'm missing something. It's because I knew how complete I was with God and something temporary shouldn't cause anyone to completely turn away. I think it's the same with most christians. When they turn away things just...aren't the same. Because you feel kind of guilty for leaving a God that did so much. |

To me the song is talking about how as Christians we need other christians in our lives. The bible says in: 1 Corinthians 1:10 I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and tha you may be perfectly united in mind and thought That even if you don't like someone, you should still treat them as family. Sometimes even blood family makes us angry but we stil respect them. Well in Christ we're family. It reminds me of my youth group, sometimes we get on each others last nerves but in the end we're still a spiritual family. And I know despite the spats we get into, I need them there to keep me sane and balanced. |

I love this song, the lyrics are self-explanitory. It's addressing a person who's living for the wrong things. And those worldly things aren't going to be there forever. It's telling that person that there's hope for a brand new start and God wants to give it. It's saying that their old life is nothing in God's eyes and if you accept his son you'll get a new life. And the new life will be so much more fufilling than what you were living before. I also think the chorus is adressing us as humans and out ability to forgive, not other people, but ourselves. Personally there are a lot of times that I wonder if I'm worthy of what God has to offer me because of my past. But the chorus is saying let your old life fade in your mind because you have a new one that will be flled wth amazing things. |

I agree with corsaiir, I've never dated a thug ether. Personally I hate guys who act like thugs, it's kind of obnoxious. However I do think that this poem doesnt represet all guys, cause some are generally nice. So relax guys who take this song offensively, every girl knows in her heart that there is a good guy out there. And if you take this song so offensively maybe it's because you've been guilty of one or two of these things to begin with. Also I do agree that girls do cause problems to and can act like this as well. However the reason there are more songs about it from a girls perspective than a guys is because girls can express themselves that way. When guys get this from girls theyre more likely to just get mad and break it off. A girl is more emotional and can put more into a song like this. Just my opinion |
