i played this song over and over again the night my stepdad first beat my mother. when i finally saw her i just left her with this song. like she was letting our relationship die by staying with him. "hearts gone cold hands are tied" "heart of gold but lost its pride" to me that ended up symbolizing how she became tied to a relationship with an evil man, and lost all her pride and dignity so she wasnt strong enough to leave. "did you ever think of me your so considerate" was about how she never thought of how their relationship might effect me. i know thats not what the song was written about. but thats what it means to me. |

yeah. i think this song is a lot about how no matter what situation your in music can always be a comfort. i think in parts its talking about being a kid where music helps block out the crazy and awful things happening around them.
