Ghostpoet – Meltdown Lyrics | 7 years ago |
Beautiful song. I think it's about a breakup where instead of keeping up appearances one or both parties experienced a meltdown. You get the sense that he's a torn up and hurting silently about it but knows he's gotta follow his heart onto better relationships. It's tough to walk away from the type of love that melts your heart. |
Ghostpoet – Cash and Carry Me Home Lyrics | 8 years ago |
This song = Anxiety Perfect depiction of all the stress upcoming graduates about to enter the world are facing. |
Nine Inch Nails – I Would for You Lyrics | 8 years ago |
This song = "I would be a better person for you" Love it! |
Nine Inch Nails – Metal Lyrics | 8 years ago |
All very good interpretations on here! I especially like the ones which suggest the song is about our dependence on metal technology, it kind of makes sense. I'll add my own view though, I think it's about being engineered to be something you're not. The protagonist is becoming this machine like 'you' but has memories of being a human being, hence why he's afraid of the liquid engineers. |
Johnny Hollow – die for love Lyrics | 8 years ago |
I think it's about two people who were deeply in love and are just coming to terms that it can never be like this again. I think the male singer is finally realizing they're not meant to be and it's killing him but he knows the admission is a step in the right direction. The woman's verses, especially the parts about jealousy, hint that he's been unfaithful somehow but she refuses to let go of him because she'd rather die for love 'holding her breath' than break the 'sacred seals on her arm and heart'. She's yearning for him to display that passion about their love again, but she's fighting against the obvious realization they're not good together anymore. |
Kimbra – Settle Down Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Wonderful song from a beautiful and talented artist! They used a fake doll in the video, in place of a devoted spouse. I think she's trying to show us how ridiculous it is to hang onto something that isn't real. |
Florence + the Machine – Bedroom Hymns Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think this song is about the bedroom hymms that people make during sex. When she says 'this is his body, this is his love' I don't think she's referring to god or Jesus. She's worshiping her lover and the incredible chemistry they have in the bedroom. When she say's: 'I'm not looking for Absolution, Because I've found myself and old solution' I see it as, I'm not looking for forgiveness for this act of pure lust. I'm not going to feel guilty because I've found the old solution of just going with it and fulfilling our needs. |
Florence + the Machine – Remain Nameless Lyrics | 12 years ago |
"I was born in a big grey cloud Screaming out a love song All the broken chords and unnamed cries What a place to come from" Two people in the throes of passion made life, made florence. But their love was in a big grey cloud, I'm guessing it was either forbidden or very turbulent. These have always haunted her. I wish to remain nameless and live without shame Cause what's in a name, oh I still remain the same In 'small brief towns', everybody knows everybody by name. So her wishing to remain nameless is a tact to hide the identity of coming from this town. She's met another damaged individual and doesn't want him to trace her by name back to the chaotic world of her town. You can call it what you want You can call me anything you want You can call us what you want You can call me anything you want Let's do a give and take, this relationship can work for us both but there's no need for labels. A fling, a companionship, something more, it can be whatever you want it to be just don't label it with a name. "Everybody lets you down In this brief? hole of a town What a difference of the rushing out Tell me what you're running from" Everybody let's you down in this place, but now that we've rushed out and we're free of labels tell me what you ran from and I'll reciprocate. "I know everybody lets you down And I'll do the same But know I'll always be around This can remain the same" I'm no saint. I'll let you down if you're looking for a defined labeled relationship. But you can count on me to be around to continue whatever it is we have. Whatever it is we're doing. Call me when you need me Call me anything you want Darling believe me Nothing I haven't done before Exactly as the lyrics imply, call me when you need me and I'll always be there. But be warned, this is not new to me for a reason. Very beautiful song, right up there with Seven Devils as my favorites off this album. Florence has this way of surprising people even in a concept album as well thought out as this. |
Florence + the Machine – Remain Nameless Lyrics | 12 years ago |
You beat me to this post! I completely agree with this interpretation but thought I'd add a few things. "I was born in a big grey cloud Screaming out a love song All the broken chords and unnamed cries What a place to come from" Two people in the throes of passion made life, made florence. But their love was in a big grey cloud, I'm guessing it was either forbidden or very turbulent. These have always haunted her. Dido – Stoned Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Agree, it's got a great hypnotic yet upbeat tune. Also, I think she's singing "Hanging out when you're cold" not in. So as to imply that he's unfeeling when he's under influence. At least that's what I hear. |
Sneaker Pimps – Superbug Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think this song is about a woman who refuses to move forward with the relationship but at the same time doesn't give a clear no. So basically, it's unrequited love from the narrator's (guy's) point of view. I hate to bug you on your certainty never compromise - you're just always weak you care but you don't show too proud to catch the flow The first line sounds a bit sarcastic when the second line is delivered. It's like "you're so certain we won't work. Yeah right! You're just weak, girl." slowly the signs will read you dumb surely the times will feel you numb The signs you're giving me, make you look dumb and will eventually make you feel cold and numb towards any relationship. you said it hurts your head to know me Self explanatory. Pretty much, "I hate to bug you, but you gotta give me an answer so that I can move on." and I'd love to break your fall but no one's asking me answer - stamp me out I'm right here, but it seems like you don't want me. Just give me an answer and I'll leave. It's a recurring theme where he wants an answer, but she's either on the fence or is just trying to ignore him. I love the jaded rock sound on this track! Kind of reminds me of Nirvana. |
Yoko Kanno – Christmas In the Silent Forest Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Ghost in the shell is an amazing anime, truly the best there is. But aside from its complex yet intelligent story it's the characters of section nine that really stand out. However, due to the fact that Motoko is the leader and has a cyberbody from which emotion is not easy to read it felt like we got to know all the character's except her. Then, when this song plays at the end of season two and she's looking back at her team, that's the moment I truly connect with her character. That's the moment I realize this woman has one hell of a heavy burden/heart, but she's got no outlet for dealing with what happened in the last episode. As she somberly looks to her team and this song plays in the background, I get the sense that we've barely scratched the surface when it comes to understanding Motoko Kusanagi. |
Florence + the Machine – My Boy Builds Coffins Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think this song is about a guy who buries every relationship he's ever been in. Florence has been with him but when they were together he built a coffin for himself (sabotaged their relationship, or hid in a coffin sort of like putting up walls.) Or maybe he gives it his all, he "crafts them with care" but has nothing to show for these relationships because he's buried them all. Florence was probably his latest "client/relationship" and she's warning the next woman that "One of these days he'll make one for you" as in he'll make you a coffin just like he made one for me and himself. |
Greg Laswell – Your Ghost (Kristin Hersh cover) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I think he means blood. Think about it, a blaze is red, if it's down her nightgown I'd infer that its red blood. This song is really deep, but for some reason I think it refers to murder. |
N.E.R.D. – Provider Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I don't think he's a drug dealer, I think the person in this song is doing the last job he could find just to provide for his family, and that just happens to be trucking. Selling cocaine is the last possible option but he does not want to take that route. "I don't want to be another cocaine story" This lyric pretty much gets across what I'm trying to say. He knows cocaine is an option, but he's going to try all other means and will only sell cocaine as a last resort. Amazing song, first I heard from N.E.R.D and really digging the zero 7 remix of it. |
Rob Dougan – Clubbed To Death Lyrics | 14 years ago |
Uhh, there are no Lyrics in this song Foam. Then again maybe you're just being sarcastic. |
Natalie Imbruglia – Wrong Impression Lyrics | 14 years ago |
You know there are rumours flying around that Chris Martin of Coldplay actualy asked her out. I do not know if this is true or not, however if it is, then this would be the perfect song explaining that relationship. I agree with Posh Queen it's about Natalie ending the relationship because she needs a break from all the walls he's putting up against it, but she wants him to know that she'll always love him and that it was never her intention to lead him in the wrong direction, if that's what he felt she was doing. |
Coldplay – The Hardest Part Lyrics | 14 years ago |
To me this song is about a guy leaving his bride to be at the alter, even though it's the hardest part he knows its the only way they can both be happy. I got this meaning through the lyrics "And the strangest thing was waiting for that bell to ring It was the strangest start" the whole start to their new life together just didn't seem right, it feels strange listening to those joyous church bells ring while the emotional tension between this couple contrasts that happiness. "I could feel it go down" He knew that their relationship was already falling apart, and as he walked to that alter hearing those strange bells he already sensed that this was a bad descision. "Bittersweet, I could taste in my mouth" The bittersweet taste of regret lingers on in his memory as he recounts the day he left her there. "I wish that I could work it out" In retrospect he wished that they could have gotten married and worked past their problem, but clearly that didn't happen. "And the hardest part Was letting go, not taking part You really broke my heart, oh..." Finally the most meaningful lyric in this song. It shows that it was she who betrayed him, and even though he knew this he still contemplated going through wtith the wedding, that's why he was there on the day the weddding bells sounded. "I wonder what it's all about” Here he contemplates why she betrayed him in the first place. “Everything I know is wrong Everything I do, it just comes undone And everything is torn apart Oh and it's the hardest part That's the hardest part Yeah that's the hardest part That's the hardest part” And finally the most heartbreaking part of the whole song, where he first places the blame on himself in the first paragraph lyrics. Then after his self blame session he tells us that everything was torn apart beyond repair, and the hardest part was to make the decision to walk away for both their sakes. That my friends is the hardest part, or at least my interpretation of it. Post Reply |

Coldplay – Talk (Alternate Version) Lyrics | 14 years ago |
I like this version of talk, but I understand why they went for the album version in the end. This version was all over the place in terms of meaning and backround music, it didn't feel like it could stand on it's own like the final did. Now having said that, I still like this version very much. The only thing I would change is after the "wont you talk to me" lyric I would've kept the guitar riff from the final album version. Then it would have been perfect. |

Coldplay – Harmless Lyrics | 15 years ago |
Here are the real lyrics: If you call and call Your self esteem is low And I heard you'd called Is there no calling? And away I go Any way you go I was on your tail As clear as crystal But it was harmless It couldn't hurt you Oh you were helpless I know you'll get through I know, I Chemicals are cold See you sit down on A chemical you cause Is like a crystal So I heard you say I got to get away I'm on a second trail As clear as crystal But I was harmless It couldn't hurt you Oh you were helpless I know you'll get through Personally I think this song is about Crystal Meth (with all the references to crystals) , and maybe how someone close to Chris was harmed by it because they were told "it was harmless" |
Coldplay – The World Turned Upside Down Lyrics | 16 years ago |
correction I think its: "Pilot's up and away they fly to write your name in the summer sky" Hide and sob doesn't make much sense |
