| Dido – The Day Before the Day Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Suicide, for sure... these lines make it clear: "Did you stop at any time, have doubts at any stage? Were you calm or were you numb, or happy just to get it done?" |

This song is so sad... Realizing that the one you thought was with you... is not... is such a tragic thing. "Burned all maps to reach you" "The setting sun over all I had" Wow :-( |

| The Smashing Pumpkins – Bullet with Butterfly Wings Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Actually that may be "all my cool _in gold_" Also, the title may be a reference to chaos theory and the butterfly effect, where a small change (the flapping of butterfly wings) leads to a large change in outcome. It is just a song, after all, but might subtly effect the change he'd like to see through the fans. Then the bullet (hit) would be the (literal) bullet that killed the thing he hates. |

My take on this exactly. That and I think he may be singing "I suppose I'll show all my cool and _gold_, like old Job." Makes more sense ;-) |

| Sarah McLachlan – Sweet Surrender Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I always took this song to be about someone who had been in an abusive, lonely relationship that they tried to stay with and make work but eventually left. She felt so unlovable that the love of someone new totally surprises her and leaves her feeling afraid of disappointing him. She is so damaged by her past that all she is able to do is surrender to her new lover and let him teach her how to love again. Great song... lovely voice! |

| Michael Hutchence – The Passenger Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This whole soundtrack rocks ... Nick Cave's contribution, The Devlins, and of course Massive Attack + Tracey Thorn are standouts to me. | |

I guess to each their own... Heligoland is awesome IMO. *shrugs* Breakage's remix of this tune is great as well... |

| Blindside – The Way You Dance Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I think this song also speaks to the ways we as people tend to protect ourselves at the expense of others... engaging in risky behavior with full intention of walking away if things go south on us, leaving others to pick up the pieces... |

| Shinedown – The Crow And The Butterfly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Actually I take my previous comment back ... it fits better as the loss of a parent... the main character talks of being sung to and of lullabies haunting him... | |
| Shinedown – The Crow And The Butterfly Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Maybe it is the imagery used but to me this seems to suggest the loss of a child... a long as you don't take the "getting high" part literally ;-) | |
| Shinedown – Sound of Madness Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| To me the song seems to be speaking to some of the atypical fans the band has seen... They look to the band for direction, attracted by the music (sound of madness...), but the singer's response is that they need to wake up and start fighting to improve their lives instead of wallowing in self-pity, anger or fear. | |
| Clutch – The Regulator Lyrics | 17 years ago |

@roleki ... sounds right on to me. Perhaps the clock is the weapon he used to kill his ex while she slept... and it seems his plan is a murder/suicide. ("Come with me...") I love music that actually gives you something to think about! |
