correct me if i'm wrong, but isn't this song like the precursor to three cheers for five years? this song feels like he thinks that she doesn't love him anymore and that she's gonna do something with the other guy, and three cheers for five years pretty much confirms his fears saying that it's already happened. |

I think maybe this song along with "I Miss You" and "In Loving Memory" are all about the same person, a friend I think. This one being from the friend's point of view. "I Miss You" being about him right after they buried his friend, and then "In Loving Memory" is a little bit later, as if to say he hasn't gotten over losing his friend yet. This could be way off, but that's just what I think. |

I think maybe this song could be like part 2 of summer's song. Mostly cuz of the part about the girl waiting in California. Maybe the girl from summer's song lives in California and he wants to go there to be with her. This could be way off, but it's just a thought. |

But, anyways. I love this song, I used to listen to it all the time, and just started listening to it again. This reminds me of this one perfect moment. Ok, so my ex and I were trying to get back together. She was about to go bowling with her friends, and she asked me to come with, so I did. Then she ignored me the entire time, and then on the way home, she told me she was gonna go to prom with my neighbor, who is a dousche bag, lol. So, I took her home, and when I told her we were through, this song started playing on the car stereo. It was so perfect, like a scene from a movie. Then, I moved on, and she didn't. Just thought I'd share that, since it relates really well to the song, and cuz I like that memory, it marks the start of something better for me. :) |

I agree with pavlova and bipolarmess, I think someone is dying, although I don't think it necessarily is a girlfriend. It could be a friend or family member. I really don't think this song is about suicide though. I think "the sun will set for you" is him kinda dedicating the sunset to that person who is dying or already passed away. I think that the verses are really sad but the chorus is happy, because he is dedicating the sunset to that person, and the singing just sounds happier. Just my take on it. Amazing song |

i love this song. its weel-written great lyrics. but, i love it even more just because of the memory behind it. a couple of summers ago, i started hanging out with this girl, she was kind of quiet, and mainly let her actions speak for her. i just remember listening to this song in her room, and her sitting in her chair and her standing behind me holding on to me. wasn't a great relationship, but even the bad ones have their moments where they're special to us. :) |

i know about what the song is actually about, with the whole being drunk, and naked on the airplane thing. but this song makes me think of someone who went somewhere on vacation and met someone special while they were there and they are sitting on the airplane and its kind of a bittersweet moment. the person is remembering the trip waiting for their flight to leave. and they're thinking back to a certain part of that trip where the person asked them to take a picture. cuz i used to think it was: "did you wanna take my picture, cuz i wanna remember." and they just wanted that picture to like remind them of that person and the time that they spent together. and then i think the end of the song is just kinda like the plane taking off, at least on the album version. it just kinda goes into this sad instrumental bit at the end, and its just the person on the plane realizing that as much fun as that person had, it's gone. but they'll always have that picture to remember them by. but thats just my interpretation of it |
