| Dredg – Somebody Is Laughing Lyrics | 11 years ago |

| Local Natives – Mt. Washington Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| i think it's about heroin addiction. to me it gives that feeling. Mt Washington Heroin Addiction house | |
| Lydia – Hurry Back Tonight Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| It's about Dorthy on Wizard of Oz. True story. I just smoked | |
| Röyksopp – What Else Is There? Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
by far, best interpretation. IMO I suddenly understand why I relate to the song so much now. |
|
| Lydia – Hailey Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I'm not sure if this is true or not but I always imagined Hailey to be a ghost or imaginary friend that was always there during the hard times. I often imagined she was a real person that committed suicide or something and kept him company. He only saw her during dreams or when on drugs. I prefer not to know the truth because then the magic of Lydia's music and lyrics isn't as fun. This is an awesome song though. | |
| Coheed and Cambria – Far Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| right on the money. I listened to this album before I read the book and wasn't really feeling it. With the story in mind and songmeanings.net it's a completely different experience now. | |
| Coheed and Cambria – Far Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| That's what I thought at first too but I think it's Dr. Hohenberger pouring his heart out to Pearl. She really took it out on him... | |
| Tired Pony – Held In The Arms Of Your Words Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song reminds me of Lydia, This December It's One More... Music is awesome because it's open for interpretation right? This song to me is about coke addiction. It's a beautiful sounding song about an addict that is content with being addicted. |

| Röyksopp – What Else Is There? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I agree with the major thought out interpretations of this song. My own explanation for the song is this - It's a conversation between a moment in time and a human mind. I will try to break it down how it does in my mind: (how often are we driving and not really living the moment? I know when I am driving my mind is often miles away) It was me on that road But you couldn't see me Too many lights out, but nowhere near here (we continue like drones till something like a bomb or car crash wakes us up?) It was me on that road Still you couldn't see me And then flash lights and explosions (Humans are passing through time to an eventual end but how often do we forget, nothing is forever?) Road's end getting nearer We cover distance, but not together (this narration of a moment) I am the storm and I am the wonder And the flashlights, nightmares And sudden explosions I don't know what more to ask for I was given just one wish (use your imagination on this because I can't wrap around these lines) It's about you and the sun A morning run The story of my maker What I have and what I ache for I've got a golden ear I cut and I spear But what else is there? Roads and getting nearer We cover distance, still not together (Human is asking, in the end will I be remembered for any particular moments) If I am the storm, if I am the wonder Will I have flashlights, nightmares and sudden explosion? There's no room where I can go and You've got secrets too I don't know what more to ask for I was given just one wish (Why) |

| Röyksopp – What Else Is There? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| that was the funniest under appreciated humor I've ever seen on songmeanings | |
| Copeland – Sleep Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Pandora thew a neato song my way. it's crazy how the most simple things mean the most in a relationship...hairline, cheekbones, and yes even cell phones these days | |
| Jimmy Eat World – Gotta Be Somebody's Blues Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song is up their on my list of tracks that just never get old. It almost seems as though they wrote the music first and the written music wrote the lyrics. They seem vague so anyone can interpret them the way they want. In my opinion its a song about forces (evil and good) hints of old school war and new age biological warfare. It's truly amazing. |

| Stabbing Westward – What Do I Have to Do? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Exactly, I think we males are more likely to make mistakes but females are more likely to intentionally "play games" which is very hurtful to the dudes. The best way to forget someone is to patiently wait for the replacement that far exceeds the previous one. | |
| Snow Patrol – You Could Be Happy Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This past month I have been trying my damnedest to get over a failed relationship. I felt like it was my duty to do everything I could to keep it from going away. I feel that I have. I prayed for God to help me tonight, had my Mp3 player on shuffle and guess what he played? It's perfect. I love my gal enough to let her go because she doesn't want to be with me anymore. =) |

| Elf Power – Come Lie Down With Me (And Sing My Song) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song seems to go with Peel Back the Moon, Beware. In my interpretation of the song I say the water is this girl's soul. It's about a guy making a scary journey through the girl's heart and soul. He wants her to "pull him under" This whole CD reminds me of that special someone I am convinced is my soulmate (whether she agrees or not) |
|
| Elf Power – Peel Back The Moon, Beware! Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
This song like many of their others is trippy. When I hear of it I think of my special someone. We like to lay in bed and listen to songs. This one is perfect for when it's raining. To me this song is about talking a journey through your soulmate's soul. The beginning describes the atmosphere (in my case laying in bed making spoons while it rains) "As you turn down the light in the long black night, peel back the moon, beware!" that's where I am crawling though my soulmate's eyes and closing the her eyelids on the way in... It then talks about seeing the dark as well as the beautiful things inside. At the end it talks about how no one before me has jouneyed through this person's soul like I have and she may never know how much I saw when I looked inside her eyes... "I was living in a movie, you never even knew me The people looked right through the city" That's my interpretation! |

| Grizzly Bear – Cheerleader Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| that is the most direct and correct interpretation ever. I like it | |

| haha that just made my whole damn day | |
| City and Colour – Waiting... Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| you are retarded. i love it! | |
| Thrice – Open Water Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The ocean is a big and beautiful place but it's dangerous. It gives and it takes. It's so amazing in it's beauty and danger that it's the only place you feel alive. That is how I feel about love. I used to be so terrified of "the open water" that I refused to set sail. My relationship fell through and now I'm drowning in the water feeling the crushing weight of the ocean.....BUT it reminded me I am alive and I will continue to return to it's beauty. | |
| Thrice – Open Water Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| To me this song is a metaphor for love. I don't want to be too specific but just thought I would throw the idea out there. | |
| Dredg – Of The Room Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think this is an artists brilliant description of tripping on acid. | |
| AFI – Love Like Winter Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Hell yeah this is an out of the box interpretation. that first verse is awesome. makes sense cause really good movies do deserve some reflection and Davey seems the type to reflect on that movie. :) | |
| TV on the Radio – A Method Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I like all the ideas presented here. the car accident is a logical observation with the interstate line. the first part of the song made me think the artistic method explanation. I've never tripped before but every time i read lyrics like these I am seriously tempted. this song reminds me of "Air Bag" and "Planet Telex" by Radiohead. awesome song | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Carl Solomon Blues Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think the writer of this band is a reincarnation of that crazy guy from the nineteen twenties.. I would even go on to say the album is supposed to be understood in the context of the 1920s. | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Bad News Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
this song is very hard to "decode" since no one else has made any attempt I feel brave enough to try. It's hard to tell if the writer is directing this at him self or his college aged audience. It seems like this band writes music that could cross the boundaries of time and the first lines in this one allude to that fact: On some mentioning of thoughts of mid twenties tangent plots (stories from the nineteen twenties) Those sad feathery talks that float in on all that Tattered teenage applause clapped out further with no pause On collegiate palms of course their hands so soft (talking about the young crowd possibly drowning out the music's meaning by being kids) Ancient postures of awe for low level modern shocks Now happening a lot like any synaptic (what was shocking in the twenties is just eh now days) Cavalry's typical barrage on your tired soul (and it happens like a rain storm on your soul) You can not shrug it off, just start your inconsequential white withdrawal Cautious sticks stuck in fictitious craws capsized on your chatty shores (I want to say this alludes to pills/medication I spent alot of time on it and can't imagine it's real meaning.) Half deaf, half seem worse yet you still keep talking (most audience don't get the half of the message) In between coughing fits and soon to be heimliched bits Of Ideas which you could not yet digest (can't understand the meaning.) damn these lyrics are mind boggling. hope some one else posts eventually |

| Lydia – Fate Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| i think this is clearly a love song. about a young man and young woman that partied and dated at a young age. the song implies that the two were not the same age. guessing the guy is older cause im old school. haha. anyway yeah one of them is angry at the other for words that were said. seems like they are willing to forgive the the person just takes them back. i like the song mucho | |
| Lydia – A Camera Lens and Careful Days Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I think this song obviously references drug use but I think it's deeper than that too. Leighton is an amazing writer. It's like a crazy multi directional metaphor for life. If you stay quite and drift you will be safe (if you wisper). but then something in life grabs your very soul (in the song it's a picture) and the staring off into space and blur is about how life can just blur all together when it really starts going. Then about how anything appears to be love if you star at it long enough. then about how life is full of ups and downs which make it worth it for the big moment when it all doesn't matter anymore. but then the end of the song the writer is like fuck it I want to hide from the world. this is just how I read into the story. :) curious to see what direction the band goes in with it's new members. Rolo15 for life! lol |

| Elf Power – An Old Familiar Scene Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
this has got to be about just staring off into the night sky. brilliantly written: Midnight brings you waves in through, across the world to me (light waves of stars and the moon) I am still here thinking about what you came to be I can see your face there in the moonlight on the wall The shadows bend the light into a little golden ball (the stars) One by one the shapes become an old familiar scene I watch them flicker slowly as Im falling off to sleep (stars) I can almost hear the words come rising from your tongue I can almost hear you laughing when the morning comes (the stars are fading away and laughing?) And sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night I can see the angels come in, falling from your eyes (some say the stars are angels looking down on us) One by one the shapes become an old familiar scene I watch them flicker slowly as Im falling off to sleep I can see you far away off in another time (stars are so far away they really are in another time) Still ride on, the world is gone and somehow you survived (universe goes on) You sit there by the window looking out into the rain Everyone was waiting but you never, ever came |
|
| Syd Barrett – Dominoes Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| Syd's amazing. I think it's meant to be fairly simple about simple life. The song was recorded amazingly. I think the guitar part is played backwards while the drums are normal. | |
| Modest Mouse – The World at Large Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I seem to pick up on an Atheist tone in MM songs. This one particularly because the moth line which may be alluding to Richard Dawkin's example in his God Delusion book....well maybe not maybe this song was written prior to that books release....anyway this song and band are good to my thinking mind. | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Talk About Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think I'm going to have to look up some words and listen a few more times before it comes to me. Can't wait for the new CD! | |
| Dear and the Headlights – I Just Do Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I didn't like this song at first but now I can't get enough of it! | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Happy In Love Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| sounds slot like a song about coke. That's just my interpretation though please don't go out of your way to say I'm wrong. Love this band. | |
| Dear and the Headlights – It's Gettin' Easy Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love the "straight jacket mind" line! | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Grace Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I think this song is simply beautiful, the way the vocals slow and speed up with emotion! | |
| Dredg – Sang Real Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| to me it's just kind of sayin that we are of the universe and nothing more. | |
| Lydia – A Story For Supper Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| what? there was a real crash? i wonder...i don't remember hearing that and i went to school in gilbert, az. maybe it happened before and they were just writing about it. Leighton is a lyrical genious though. Lydia is a truly unique group. hope they continue making music...I think maybe the song isn't from personal experience but a metaphor for High School aged teens. | |
| AFI – Salt For Your Wounds Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I have always had this weird feeling that Davey was like murdered or he murdered someone but was left undead. I don't remember all my old evidence but the song lyrics...yeah. | |
| Kashmir – Jewel Drop Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| what's in the bag exchanging hands.... sounds alot like a song about drug addiction. but i seem to find drung connections with a lot of songs so it could be just me? | |
| Sunny Day Real Estate – Rain Song Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| I love this song and after reading the posts i agree it's about god. on a side note I love people that analyze lyrics; so much more to music than a good sound. | |
| AFI – Love Like Winter Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
When I first heard this song I thought about the first verse alot: Warn your warmth to turn away Here it's December every day Press your lips to the sculptures and surely you'll stay For of sugar and ice, I am made The part about pressing your lips to the sculptures sounds like if you worship false idols you will stay behind when Jesus comes again??? |
|
| Carbon Leaf – What about everything? Lyrics | 17 years ago |
| this song reminds me of how my friends that have joined the armed forces look at the big picture. I often think I should have joined and maybe things would be different. | |
| Dear and the Headlights – Oh No! Lyrics | 17 years ago |
|
When I hear this song think about a young man's fall into addiction. the beginning is how he is considering trying it as his friends are preparing the rig or whatever. then the one that is already addicted is thinking "this guys has no idea what he's getting into" then "Haven''t had a day alone..." is like he has to use everyday. then the part about "I'm lying if I'm talking.." is the drug deceiving the addict. then the part of the banquet table is like part of the addict wants to go straight for the drug and part of him wants to walk away. then I am perplexed about this part: "The metal wheel is spinning I take a sip from a tube In the glass I {look} pretty Sawdust in my shoes" the tube reminds me of a syringe? I know it's annoying when everyone wants to make every song about drugs but that's just what I feel when I hear the song. Great song! |
