| Foo Fighters – My Hero Lyrics

Its saying that true heroes are the people who will stand up for what is right, without wanting the media to follow them, without a big profile, just ordinary people who stand up for their beliefs. Then fade back into society as if it was routine, as if being the hero, doing the right thing, is indeed ordinary. Everyone has the power to do that, but only heroes exercise that power. |

they've learnt to fly. and they have flown magnificently. now they're just looking for the time for the wheels to touch the ground. Not saying the end is nigh, just that the end will be at the right moment |

Ok, to all that argue with 'quiffporn', just don't, because if you really liked the song, somebody else's opinion shouldn't affect you, unless you're not sure you're actually having a little thought in your mind that you aren't actually having fun listening to it
Which brings me to my next point, the song is about fun. Pointless, skin deep, but fun. I've listened to a lot of deep meaningful songs, and few compare to the fun I have singing this. |

I love the song, however, unfortunately, I think this song is about apathy. Its about someone who wants a change, perhaps in his life, his relationship or the world in general, but doesnt do anything. The person who doesnt practice what he preaches, doesnt want to be active, just wants to move along with the crowd, freewheeling |

New sound due to the loss of pennie, therefore the loss of the signature screamy squeal.

Dragged in all directions for miles |

the 'went to cuba to meet castro, never got past sleepy moscow' is a reference to the left in general. When you say revolution, you think russian revolution, then communism. So before you go to meet castro, you go to moscow. Then when you think moscow, you think stalin and think 'actually, it aint that good' |

I think its about someone who cant 'get' that theyve been dumped. They are sat there forever, waiting for her to call back or come over to get back together, but that never happened, and all he can do is think about her, and anything related to her |

Ok, 3 verses, the perspectives on 1 situation.
A soldior dies in war, and the song starts with the soldior kinda going, 'dammit, I'm dead'
Next, it's his girlfriend's point of view.
Finally, it's his friend on the battlefield who could do nothing to save him |

the 1977 album was their childish laugh and sing cd, as shown at the end of the album with the throwing up and with the fun songs. This is just their love for jackie chan and other kung fu films. You can see a parralelism between this and the b-side 'Cantina Band', just a star wars tune, just for fun |

It's a girl who acts like a boy. men are from mars and stereotypically, men sit around playing cards and smoking cigars. He's talking about a girl he loved and lost who acted boyish |

This song is summing up Generation Terrorists, and shows their attitude at the start of their carrer. They wanted to sing about taking down the beliefs given to us by TV, and how they've become materialised and become what they hated 'we said the truth was fixed, its lost without a trace' and they cannot be sure where to go 'time lost its certainty', so they made this album to have fun, see what happens, just chill out. They want to get back to GT, they want to 'clear our minds' and 'remember the reasons that made them be', their darker political message |

I know this is the science geek inn me taking, but to add to MercyKiller's comment, neon is an inert gas, and so does not react, maybe something to do with a lack of energy used (as energy is needed for a reaction) and so a lack of motivation (probably political, in the idea of starting a revolution) because everyone would rather watch TV and succumb to the distractions. |

I thought the chorus was satirising the fear of subliminal messages.
But the whole song is definitely a stab at how the media totally put them on a pedestal |

Well obviously they're socialist (the masses against the classes, the very definition of marxism)
Its a dig at capitalism, and that the only way forward is communism/socialism (Prosperity - mein kampf for beginners(Mein kampf being the book written by Hitler)) |

i think they have gone very much 'run to the hills' in this song. Onlooking a situation and looking at both sides of the argument. Whether we can better ourselves scientifically or is it too good to be tru? Turn to the light, alongside Are you Justified? |
